THE TEAM
In this role as a Business Analyst, Data Offering and Services you will be part of the expanding custom data solutions team, which has grown considerably since being established over three years ago. In this role, you will report into Senior Director, Data Offering and Services. The team works directly with clients on a project basis, providing technical support based on a foundation of Evaluate & Citeline data. We work with a range of client organisations globally – from major global pharma and biotechs, to financial services organisations and industry associations.
SCOPE OF THE ROLE
As a Business Analyst, you’ll be a key player in bridging customer goals with technical execution. Your mission is to turn business objectives into clear, actionable requirements for our Development and Engineering teams, ultimately enabling the successful delivery of data products and services to senior decision-makers, including C-level executives.
You’ll work closely with Python Developers, Data Engineers, and Product Management to build and refine robust data pipelines and solutions. This requires a solid foundation in data analysis, technical skills in SQL and Python for ETL, and a strategic mindset for project planning and stakeholder engagement.
You should be comfortable juggling detailed technical specs with high-level business conversations. That means knowing your way around entity relationship diagrams (ERDs), understanding data governance, and translating complex data issues into clear solutions. Just as importantly, you'll be an active contributor to client-facing activities, API integrations, and data platform change management initiatives—supporting our Customer Success function in delivering continuous value.
In this role as a Business Analyst, you will:
- Translate client goals into technical requirements and documentation.
- Plan, scope, and estimate data initiatives and delivery efforts.
- Gather and validate actionable business and technical requirements.
- Develop clear scope documents, including ERDs and process flows.
- Manage timelines, expectations, and stakeholder communication.
- Collaborate with internal teams to design scalable and secure data solutions.
- Support API clients and changes to data feed products, with a focus on minimizing service disruption and managing risk.
- Participate in data platform modernization projects, migrating python-based data delivery solutions into the data platform architecture.
- Work alongside Customer Success to understand evolving client needs and proactively address pain points.
- Ensure continuous alignment with executive stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
WHAT IT TAKES
- Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of SQL and Python for ETL development and data processing.
- Analytical and Problem Solving: Skilled in exploring datasets, diagnosing issues, and designing elegant solutions.
- Project Management: Experience managing deliverables, resources, and cross-functional communication.
- Communication and Collaboration: Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and vice versa.
- Data Governance: Understanding of best practices for data quality, lineage, and compliance.
- Adaptability: Eagerness to learn new tools and adjust to a dynamic tech landscape.
- Stakeholder Management: Comfort working with senior leaders and balancing multiple stakeholder expectations.
- Relational Data Modeling: Proficient in crafting ERDs and translating them into scope documentation.
