Overview
Sr. AdTech Cloud Architect & Platform Engineer (Contractor)
Bangalore, India
About The Role
We seek highly dedicated, motivated, and Sr. AdTech Cloud Architect & Platform Engineer
who can use the right tools to find the best solutions to problems. We embrace the Agile methodology and as part of a scrum team you will play an important role in all aspects of product development--design, development, integration, and testing. And you will share in the pride and satisfaction as your work makes it into production at INVIDI’s clients.
This is a critical role requiring a rare blend of strategic architectural vision and deep, hands-on engineering execution. For the first six months, the contractor will function as a high-velocity consultant in collaboration with the development team.
The primary goal is to diagnose systemic architecture issues in our complex, high-scale Digital Campaign Manager and Ad Server (GCP, Kubernetes, Bigtable, etc.), recommend and implement optimizations to reduce cost, strengthening security, and creating a flexible, loosely coupled modular design to enable small, self-contained and independent deployable units. Success in this phase is the primary pathway to conversion.
Key Responsibilities
Rapid System Analysis & Knowledge Transfer (KT)
- System Ingestion: Quickly and autonomously on-board onto the existing complex digital campaign management and ad serving platform architecture within the first 1-2 weeks
- Documentation: Create high-quality, practical documentation and runbooks for the existing infrastructure, service dependencies, data flow pipelines, and core business logic related to ad selection, bidding, and campaign throttling
- Code Review: Conduct targeted code and configuration reviews to identify technical debt, security gaps, and immediate performance optimization opportunities within the high-traffic services
Technical Deep Dive & Optimization
- GCP & Kubernetes: Analyze the Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) clusters, including resource allocation, autoscaling strategies, networking (VPC, load balancers), and service mesh configurations for latency-sensitive ad requests
- Data Tier Expertise: Deeply analyze the utilization and schema of key data services, specifically Google Cloud Bigtable and AstroDB (or substitute with a specific NoSQL/NewSQL service), to diagnose and improve read/write latency, cost efficiency, and query performance
- Relational Database Tuning: Tune and optimize the performance of MySQL databases used for campaign configuration, reporting, and real-time inventory management.
- CI/CD & Observability: Review and recommend improvements to the existing CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Cloud Build, Bitbucket, Jenkins) and observability stack (e.g. Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) to enhance deployment speed and incident response
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Work collaboratively with the existing in-house development and DevOps teams in consultation with Architecture and AppSec teams to provide clear, concise technical guidance and mentorship on best practices for cloud-native AdTech development
- Present findings, recommendations, and execution plans clearly to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders (e.g. Product Managers)
- 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with at least 5+ years focused on high-scale, cloud-native distributed systems.
- Deep, hands-on expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) & Kafka, specifically:
- Container Orchestration: Expert-level proficiency with Kubernetes (GKE), including cluster operations, Helm, manifest management, and networking policies.
- NoSQL/Big Data: Proven experience with Cloud Bigtable data modeling, performance tuning, and schema design for low-latency, high-throughput use cases (mandatory).
- Databases: Strong proficiency with SQL/NoSQL systems like MySQL, AstroDB (or equivalent), including advanced query optimization and replication.
- AdTech/High-Performance Experience: Direct experience developing or managing low-latency, high-RPS platforms (e.g., Ad Servers, RTB Bidders, Payment Gateways).
- Programming: Strong proficiency in at least one relevant backend language (e.g., Go, Python, Java) used in cloud microservices.
- DevOps/IaC: Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Deployment Manager.
- Exceptional Learning Agility: Proven ability to rapidly absorb and navigate complex, undocumented systems.
- Self-Directed & Accountable: Capable of working independently, prioritizing tasks based on business impact, and delivering concrete results under contract timelines.
- Excellent Communication: Ability to communicate technical analysis, risks, and recommendations to a mixed audience (engineers, executives, product owners).
It would be very good if you have experience in:
- GCP Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer Certification
- Experience with streaming data technologies like Cloud Pub/Sub or Apache Kafka
- Familiarity with advertising campaign budgeting/throttling logic
- Experience with migrating or refactoring legacy components into microservices
- INVIDI is a conscious, clean, well-organized, and supportive office.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer are normal.
- Candidate must be legally authorized to work in India.
- Final candidates must successfully pass INVIDI’s background screening requirements.
