(Mid-level) Back-end engineer/ Java developer

Who you are

You are a motivated and aspiring Java Developer driven to contribute towards reducing our collective environmental footprint. You work independently whenever required and are comfortable in a flexible, remote-first company and team structure. At Revalu, you will be a vital part of a diverse cross-disciplinary team building and growing a start-up, on a mission to decarbonise the building industry. 

What you will do

We are seeking a highly motivated and sustainability-conscious full-time Java developer to join our team. You are ideally based in (or ready to move to) Hyderabad, India and will be mainly working on developing and maintaining our product. As a backed (BE) Java Developer, you will be closely working as part of scrum containing the front end, design, data and product teams. You'll be in charge of design, development, and management of BE Java applications. 

Your responsibilities will cover (but are not limited to)

• Designing, building and maintaining reliable and reusable Java code. 
• Identifying potential issues and finding possible solutions. 
• Making sure the applications perform to a high load level and efficiently. 
• Prepare release tickets and help DevOps to deploy the applications. 
• Document technical specifications, system design, and development processes for future reference. [Java Doc & Postman documentation] 
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems. 
• Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications. 
• Maintain code quality
• Design and implement new features based on customer feedback using technologies like Java/SpringBoot, MySQL, MongoDb etc. 
• Discuss architecture and best practices with your teammates.

Your profile

You have

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. 
• At least 3+ years of experience as a Backend Java Developer. 
• Good problem-solving skills. 
• Experience with OOP and OOD. 
• Knowledge and understanding of Data structures and Big O Notation.
• In depth understanding of Java, Spring framework, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, SQL (Mysql) and NO-SQL(Mongo). 
• Experience in build frameworks such as Maven
• Experience writing unit tests on different layers of backend services. 
• Good understanding of REST standards 
• Understanding of Micro-Services concept and service containerization 
• Understands CI/CD tools and is comfortable using them. 
• Working knowledge of Git, Hibernate and tools like JUnit/Mockito. 
• Knowledge of SAST/DAST tools like checkmarx, SonarLint and OWASP ZAP. 
• The ability to multitask and are good in oral and written communication skills (English).
• The ability to efficiently manage your time

• Demonstrable working experience from a sustainability/impact-focused start-up 
• Passionate about technology, constantly seeking to learn and improve your skill set.
• Have understanding or knowledge of React JS
