AI Engineer (Applied AI & Automation)

About the Role
We’re building AI-powered SaaS products and automation systems that solve real operational and productivity problems.
We’re looking for an Applied AI Engineer who is Python-first, comfortable with TypeScript, and excited about turning LLMs into reliable, production-ready systems.
This is not a research role. This is a builder role focused on shipping real features used by real users.

What You’ll Work On

• Build AI-powered features using LLMs (OpenAI / Anthropic, etc.)
• Design multi-step AI workflows (prompt pipelines, structured outputs)
• Create automation workflows (trigger → condition → action)
• Combine deterministic logic + AI for reliability
• Build backend services in Python
• Implement workflow and orchestration logic in TypeScript / Node.js
• Handle retries, failures, edge cases, and cost optimization
• Collaborate closely with product and operations teams

Core Requirements (Must-Have)
Python (Strong)

• Production-grade Python
• API development
• Async jobs / background processing
• Data handling (text, JSON, APIs)
• Error handling, retries, logging

Applied LLM Skills

• Prompt design (system + user prompts)
• Multi-step LLM workflows
• Structured outputs (JSON / schemas)
• Reducing hallucinations using context & guardrails
• Cost and latency awareness

TypeScript / Node.js

• Type-safe backend logic
• Webhooks & API orchestration
• Calling Python/AI services reliably

Engineering Mindset

• Debugging AI failures
• Owning features end-to-end
• Writing clean, maintainable code

Nice to Have

• LangGraph or similar
• Embeddings & basic retrieval (RAG)
• Docker basics
• Startup or SaaS experience
