As Data Engineer, you will be a key player in our Data Engineering team, instrumental in delivering robust and scalable data architecture to support both strategic insights and daily operational decisions. Your major responsibility will encompass the design, construction, and maintenance of high-performing data architecture, primarily leveraging Databricks and PySpark.

Your Role: Make an Impact

In your role at TORM, your main task will be constructing efficient and reliable data pipelines. You will harness the advanced capabilities of Databricks, including employing Delta Lake for dependable data lakes, integrating Lakehouse to bridge data warehousing with data lakes, and making the most of Unity Catalog for streamlined data access and fortified security. The utilization of the Parquet file format will be crucial for the effective storage and extraction of data.

As we are transitioning our existing data frameworks to the Cloud, you will have the unique opportunity to engage with the forefront of technology. This involves integrating Azure Cloud services and Azure DevOps for the establishment, upkeep, and safeguarding of our data processing infrastructure. Your expertise will further be sought in devising strategies for managing incremental data loads, overseeing extensive data processing operations, and deploying CI/CD pipelines to streamline development and rollout processes.

Working together with our data science team will be essential, ensuring that their analytical endeavors are well supported and in line with business objectives. You will also be expected to continually suggest and implement measures to enhance data dependability, efficiency, and quality, making sure TORM remains a frontrunner in the product tanker segment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, construct, test, and maintain architectures such as databases and large-scale processing systems.
• Implement complex, scalable, and robust data pipelines using Databricks and PySpark.
• Leverage Databricks advanced features, including Delta Lake for reliable data lakes, Lakehouse for combining data warehousing and data lakes, Unity Catalog for simplified data access and security.
• Use Parquet file format for efficient storage and retrieval of data.
• Implement strategies for handling incremental data loads and managing big data processing tasks.
• Utilize Azure Cloud services and Azure DevOps for setting up, maintaining, and securing data processing infrastructure.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for efficient development and deployment processes.
• Collaborate closely with the data science team to support data science efforts and business objectives.

Your Profile

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our forward-thinking team in Mumbai. The suitable candidate should have at least three years of experience in data engineering. In-depth knowledge and experience in SQL, Databricks, PySpark, and Azure Cloud, including Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines is a must.

Essential skills include understanding of Databricks (Delta Lake, Lakehouse architecture, Unity Catalog), Parquet file format, strategies for handling incremental data loads, and big data processing. Familiarity with Terraform will be a significant advantage.

To succeed in this role, you bring:

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with scalable database solutions.
• Advanced proficiency with Databricks, including Delta Lake, Lakehouse architecture, and Unity Catalog.
• Familiarity with Parquet file format and strategies for handling incremental data loads.
• Extensive experience with big data processing using tools like PySpark.
• Expertise with Azure Cloud services, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD pipeline development.
• Familiarity with Terraform will be considered a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of data architecture, data modeling (star schema), and experience working with Facts and dimensions and the software development lifecycle.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex data issues.
• Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
