Job Description – Network Engineer L3Role: Network Engineer – L3
Department: IT Infrastructure / Network Operations
Reports to: Network Manager / Network Architect
The Network Engineer L3 is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure. This role handles escalations, leads critical incident resolution, and ensures high availability, security, and performance of network systems.
Key Responsibilities1. Advanced Network Support & Troubleshooting-
Handle L3-level escalations across LAN, WAN, WLAN, and Datacenter networks.

Perform deep-dive RCA (Root Cause Analysis) for recurring or critical issues.

Support routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), switching technologies, and network segmentation.

Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, and load balancers.

Implement changes following ITIL change management processes (planned maintenance, upgrades, migrations).

Deploy and optimize network monitoring tools.

Manage VPNs, ACLs, firewall rules, and network access controls.

Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance and secure configurations.

Patch and upgrade network devices to remove vulnerabilities.

Monitor bandwidth usage, latency, and overall network health.

Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning.

Ensure high uptime using redundancy and failover mechanisms.

Maintain accurate network diagrams, change records, and configuration backups.

Work closely with L1/L2 teams and provide mentoring for escalated issues.

Coordinate with vendors (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, ISPs) for advanced support.

Strong hands-on with routing & switching (Cisco/Juniper/Arista).

Deep understanding of routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS.

Experience with firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA).

Knowledge of SD-WAN solutions (Viptela, Fortinet, Meraki, etc.).

Strong understanding of wireless networks, network security, and VPNs.

Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS/Azure/GCP) is a plus.

Working knowledge of network automation (Python, Ansible) is an advantage.
