What You’ll Do

• Design and own cloud infrastructure architectures on AWS using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) as the foundation of everything we build.
• Lead the creation of reusable, versioned IaC modules and frameworks that accelerate development across the organization.
• Build and maintain infrastructure with Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, Ansible, and other modern tools.
• Implement robust CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure provisioning and change management.
• Drive immutable infrastructure practices and fully automated environment lifecycle management.
• Define and champion best practices for scalability, high availability, security (least privilege + defense-in-depth), and cost optimization.
• Enable true self-service, zero-touch provisioning for platform, security, SRE, and product teams — dramatically increasing developer velocity.
• Review architecture and code, mentor junior engineers, and share deep expertise across the department.
• Collaborate closely with architects, product managers, and cross-functional teams to advance Appian’s technology roadmap.
• Contribute high-quality documentation that becomes the long-term reference for our platform standards.

What You Bring

• Deep expertise in AWS services: EC2, Auto Scaling, EKS, ECS, Lambda, VPC, ALB/NLB, Route 53, PrivateLink, EBS, EFS, S3, IAM, KMS, and Secrets Manager.
• 15+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing large-scale cloud infrastructure architectures.
• Strong track record in cost optimization and cloud economics.
• Proven experience supporting regulated environments (SOC2, FedRAMP, HIPAA, or equivalent).
• Solid experience with Kubernetes (EKS) and containerized workloads.
• Familiarity with GitOps workflows.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills — you’ve developed engineering talent and influenced technical direction at scale.
• Exceptional communication skills; you can explain complex designs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
