As part of our Cloud Operations team expansion, we are hiring an L1 Cloud Engineer to manage AWS and Azure environments at a client site.
Role Overview
As an L1 Cloud Engineer, you will handle the daily operations and support tasks required to maintain secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure. Your role will include monitoring, incident handling, access management, and assisting in deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure Management
- Monitor EC2, RDS, S3 (AWS) and/or Azure VMs, Storage, and Databases
- Conduct routine health checks based on runbooks
- Ensure high service availability and uptime
- Apply infrastructure changes following defined change management
Support & Incident Management
- Respond to system alerts and service desk tickets
- Perform basic cloud troubleshooting (L1 scope)
- Escalate complex issues to L2/L3 or vendor support
- Maintain logs and documentation for all incidents
CI/CD & Deployment Support
- Assist in deployment tasks and monitoring scripts
- Follow predefined steps for CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
- Work with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, ARM templates)
Monitoring & Reporting
- Use CloudWatch or Azure Monitor for resource tracking
- Generate basic uptime, performance, and usage reports
- Set up standard dashboards and alerts
User & Access Management
- Create/delete user accounts and assign roles
- Enforce tagging, naming, and role-based access control
- Conduct basic access reviews
Documentation & SOPs
- Maintain updated SOPs and runbooks
- Log all activities with clear actions and resolutions
- Contribute to knowledge base articles
Security & Compliance Operations
- Perform hygiene checks (e.g., open ports, unused resources)
- Execute patches and updates as per SOP
- Use tools like Defender, AWS Inspector, Pingsafe
- Support compliance tasks (CIS benchmarks, access audits)
Required Skills & Tools
- Cloud platforms: AWS Console and/or Azure Portal
- Monitoring: CloudWatch, Azure Monitor
- CI/CD Tools: GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps
- Basic Scripting: PowerShell, Bash, Python (preferred)
- IaC: Terraform, ARM templates
- Security Tools: AWS Inspector, Defender, Pingsafe
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- Preferred: AWS or Azure certifications
(e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner, SysOps, or Azure Administrator Associate)
