Job SummarySynechron is seeking a highly experienced Business Analyst specialized in Calypso to lead and manage complex financial technology projects. The candidate will serve as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating business requirements into technical solutions within the Calypso platform. This role aims to improve operational efficiency, support regulatory compliance, and facilitate seamless project delivery, thereby contributing to our clients’ financial operations and strategic objectives.
Software Requirements
Required Skills:
- Deep understanding of Calypso platform functionalities and implementations
- Strong knowledge of Calypso modules such as Treasury, Capital Markets, and Risk Management
- Experience with Calypso configuration, workflows, and reporting features
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint for analysis and reporting
- Basic understanding of programming or scripting related to Calypso (e.g., SQL, Java) is a plus
- Calypso certifications (e.g., Calypso Certified Business Analyst)
- Familiarity with Calypso APIs and integration methods
- Knowledge of SQL Server or Oracle databases
- Experience with other financial services platforms or tools (e.g., Murex, Finastra)
- Lead and facilitate the collection, analysis, and documentation of business requirements related to Calypso implementation and enhancement projects
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables aligning with client needs and organizational goals
- Work closely with technical teams to design solutions, configure Calypso modules, and ensure alignment with business processes
- Manage project timelines, scope, and budgets, ensuring timely delivery of solutions and managing associated risks
- Support testing, validation, and user acceptance processes to ensure Calypso solutions meet business requirements
- Provide ongoing support, training, and knowledge transfer to users and support teams
- Continuously evaluate existing Calypso practices and recommend improvements to optimize efficiency and effectiveness
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and internal teams, facilitating effective communication and stakeholder management
Business & Functional Skills:
- Essential: Strong knowledge of Calypso modules (Treasury, Trading, Risk, etc.) and workflows
- Preferred: Experience with Calypso reporting and analytics tools
- Basic SQL knowledge (queries, data extraction, and validation)
- Familiarity with APIs, automation, or scripting for Calypso integration (preferred)
- Experience with Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall project delivery frameworks
- Understanding of regulatory standards in financial markets and Calypso compliance functionalities
- 7 years of experience in financial technology, with significant Calypso domain exposure
- Proven track record managing and delivering Calypso implementation or enhancement projects
- Experience working directly with clients, gathering requirements, and translating them into technical deliverables
- Demonstrated leadership in project coordination, planning, and stakeholder management
- Experience with financial risk, treasury, or capital markets systems preferred
- Alternative pathways: Extensive experience with other trading and risk systems (e.g., Murex, Bloomberg AIM) may be considered
- Engage with clients and business teams to gather and analyze requirements for Calypso-based projects
- Prepare detailed documentation including business processes, use cases, and functional specifications
- Collaborate with technical teams to design solutions, customize Calypso modules, and facilitate integrations
- Manage project schedules, track milestones, and ensure deliverables meet quality standards
- Facilitate testing and user acceptance sessions, resolving issues as they arise
- Provide expert guidance and support during system go-live and post-implementation phases
- Conduct workshops and training for users and support teams
- Monitor project progress, risk mitigation, and ensure solutions adhere to compliance standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent practical experience acceptable
- Certification in Calypso or relevant financial systems is a plus
- Proven experience in financial industry projects involving Calypso or comparable systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex financial systems
- Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting with technical teams, business units, and clients
- Leadership qualities to guide project teams and manage stakeholder expectations
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities
- Proactive learner, eager to stay updated with technological advancements and industry best practices
- Effective collaboration and stakeholder management skills
