Overview

The Business Analytics Sr Analyst is a seasoned professional role. Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Excellent communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams. Involved in coaching and training of new recruits. Significant impact in terms of project size, geography, etc. by influencing decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual.

Responsibilities:

  • Gathers operational data from various cross functional stakeholders to examine past business performance
  • Identifies data patterns & trends, and provides insights to enhance business decision making capability in business planning, process improvement, solution assessment etc.
  • Recommends actions for future developments & strategic business opportunities, as well as enhancements to operational policies
  • May be involved in exploratory data analysis, confirmatory data analysis and/or qualitative analysis
  • Translate data into consumer or customer behavioral insights to drive targeting and segmentation strategies, and communicate clearly and effectively to business partners and senior leaders all findings
  • Continuously improve processes and strategies by exploring and evaluating new data sources, tools, and capabilities
  • Work closely with internal and external business partners in building, implementing, tracking and improving decision strategies
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

This job description provides a high-level review of the types of work performed. Other job-related duties may be assigned as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advanced Initiative Analysis & Insight Generation:
    • Work with large and complex initiatives (both internal and external information) to evaluate, recommend, and support the implementation of business strategies.
    • Responsible for documenting initiative requirements, information collection/processing/cleaning, and exploratory initiative analysis; which may include utilizing visualization techniques.
    • Lead performance analytics and insight generation efforts, specializing in digital and marketing analytics with a strong understanding of Digital Performance KPIs.
    • Possess a strong analytics mindset, with focus on insight generation.
  • Client-Centric Analytical Project Execution:
    • Client Obsession: Create client-centric analytic solutions to business problems, adopting a holistic view of multiple businesses to develop effective analytical strategies.
    • Analytic Project Execution: Work on complex analytic projects, requiring an understanding of business context, conversion of business problems into modeling, and implementing such solutions to create economic value.
  • Strategic Cross-Functional Collaboration & Thought Leadership:
    • Facilitate collaborative engagement and knowledge sharing between project stakeholders, internal analytics teams (within CX/Digital/Ops/RI or across USPBA), LOB teams, NextGen/modeling, and the ATI team to ensure alignment on project deliverables and timelines.
    • Demonstrate thought leadership in managing dependencies between different project components (e.g., Citi Pay, DSI) and establishing a single point of contact for stakeholders.
    • Coordinate requirements and track progress on infrastructure-related deliverables, demonstrating effective thought leadership in this area (e.g., coordinating the SAS to EAP migration across these teams).
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
    • Proactively share project updates, risks, and issues with stakeholders, fostering open collaboration and building strong relationships.
    • Ensure stakeholder needs are met throughout the project lifecycle through effective engagement and thought leadership, managing expectations and addressing concerns promptly.
    • Possess excellent communication skills and diplomacy to coordinate effectively with senior business leaders, delivering high-class presentations to articulate thoughts, solutions, or problems for business stakeholders and senior management.
  • Project Management & Oversight:
    • Project Management Skillset: Possess the skillset to manage projects, including creating project plans, assigning responsibilities, and ensuring appropriate communication throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Identify and manage dependencies between different project components and teams, developing mitigation plans for potential roadblocks and ensuring smooth execution, showcasing thought leadership in proactive problem-solving.
    • Track project progress against milestones and deadlines, preparing regular status reports for stakeholders, highlighting key achievements, risks, and issues, and utilizing project management tools to monitor progress and ensure transparency.
    • Coordinate across sub-teams to ensure timely and quality reporting to management on project progress, consolidating information and ensuring consistent messaging, demonstrating thought leadership in information synthesis and dissemination.
    • Identify and assess potential project risks, developing mitigation strategies and escalating issues as needed, showcasing thought leadership in proactive risk mitigation.
  • Process Improvement & Requirement Management:
    • Identify opportunities to improve project delivery processes and workflows, recommending and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, showcasing thought leadership in driving operational excellence.
    • Collaboratively gather and document project requirements, demonstrating thought leadership in ensuring clarity and alignment with business objectives.
  • Meeting Facilitation & Organizational Contribution:
    • Facilitate project meetings, ensuring effective collaboration and decision-making, and documenting meeting minutes and action items.
    • Contribute to broader organizational initiatives in wide-ranging areas including competency development, training, and organizational building activities.
    Qualifications

    • Education:
      • Master’s / Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
    • Experience:
      • 10-12 years of experience in business analysis, data analytics, or project coordination, preferably within the financial services industry.
      • Proven experience working on large and complex initiatives and developing analytical solutions.
      • Strong understanding of the credit card business and financials/P&L metrics.
      • Preferably exposure to Digital Business & knowledge of Digital Performance KPIs.
    • Skills:
      • Technical Proficiency:
        • Understanding of Adobe Analytics is required.
        • Proficiency in initiative visualization techniques.
      • Analytical Skills:
        • Strong understanding of analytics concepts and methodologies.
        • Proficiency in basic statistics.
        • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
      • Project Management Acumen:
        • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
        • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
      • Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
        • Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
        • High-level communication and presentation skills, capable of coordinating with senior business leaders and delivering high-class presentations.
      • Strategic & Proactive Thinking:
        • Proactive and results-oriented with demonstrated thought leadership abilities.
        • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
