ABOUT THE COMPANY
The hospital was founded in 1937 by missionaries from World Gospel Mission and has since grown to be a leading teaching and referral hospital in the region and one of the largest mission hospitals in Africa. It is a non-profit faith-based organization, a ministry of Africa Gospel Church and in partnership with World Gospel Mission.
It has a capacity of 300 beds and offers a wide-range of quality and affordable primary and specialized healthcare services.
Through partnerships with various organizations, long term and visiting physicians (Facilitated through Samaritan’s Purse), provide Tenwek patients with expertise in hospital care, out-patient treatment (Supported through USAID), and HIV/AIDS care through the PEPFAR program.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Data Analyst to join our dynamic team at the AGC Tenwek Hospital. This role is pivotal in advancing Tenwek’s mission of becoming a data-driven, high-performing health institution by providing robust insights, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring program efficiency.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Statistics, Public Health, Computer Science, or related field.Minimum 2–3 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in a healthcare setting.Proficiency in tools such as Excel, Power BI, STATA or SPSS.Experience with health information systems like DHIS2, EMR, or Open MRS is an added advantage.Key CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.Deep understanding of healthcare indicators and operations.Desirable AttributesKnowledge of Ministry of Health reporting systems.Familiarity with data privacy regulations and ethical data use.Experience in quality improvement approaches (e.g., PDSA cycles, Lean Six Sigma).
Responsibilities
Collect, validate, and manage health and operational data for program monitoring and evaluation.Translate raw data into compelling narratives and actionable recommendations to inform clinical and operational decisions.Design and enhance real-time dashboards and reports for performance tracking.Conduct trend analysis to identify anomalies, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.Support compliance with national reporting standards (e.g., DHIS2) and donor reporting requirements.Build capacity among staff in data use and foster a culture of evidence-based decision making.Recommend improvements in data systems and support health IT initiatives.
