Data Analyst

Role Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Data Analyst to join our dynamic team at Game Theory. This role is essential in transforming our raw data into actionable insights that drive product decisions and business strategy. The successful candidate will leverage strong SQL skills, MongoDB aggregation expertise, and proficiency with analytics tools like Metabase, ClickHouse, and Amplitude to extract meaningful patterns from our data. You will play a crucial role in helping us understand user behavior, optimize features, and redefine the way people play sports.

Key Responsibilities:

• SQL Development: Write efficient, complex SQL queries to extract and analyze data from relational databases, ensuring high performance and accuracy.
• MongoDB Analysis: Create advanced MongoDB aggregation pipelines to process and analyze large datasets from our NoSQL databases.
• Dashboard Creation: Design and maintain intuitive dashboards in Metabase that provide stakeholders with clear visualizations of key metrics and performance indicators.
• ClickHouse Implementation: Leverage ClickHouse for high-performance analytical queries on large datasets to support real-time analytics needs.
• User Behavior Analysis: Use Amplitude to track and analyze user behavior, identify patterns, and generate insights to improve user engagement and retention.
• Metrics Definition: Collaborate with product and business teams to define, implement, and track key performance metrics.
• Ad-hoc Analysis: Respond to business questions with data-driven insights through timely ad-hoc analyses.
• Data Quality: Ensure data accuracy and integrity through validation processes and quality checks.
• Reporting Automation: Develop automated reporting solutions to streamline data delivery and reduce manual effort.
• Insight Communication: Present data findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders, translating complex patterns into actionable recommendations.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience: 1-3 years of full-time work experience as a Data Analyst or in a similar analytics role.
• Technical Skills:
• Strong proficiency in SQL with the ability to write complex queries (joins, window functions, CTEs)
• Experience with MongoDB aggregation framework and query optimization
• Hands-on experience with analytics tools (Metabase, Amplitude, or similar platforms)
• Familiarity with columnar databases like ClickHouse
• Competency in at least one programming or scripting language (Python, R, or JavaScript)
• Knowledge of data visualization principles and best practices
• Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to approach problems logically, break down complex issues, and derive meaningful conclusions from data.
• Business Acumen: Understanding of how data insights connect to business outcomes and product decisions.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present findings clearly to diverse audiences.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with sports-related data or in the sports technology industry.
• Knowledge of A/B testing methodologies and statistical significance.
• Familiarity with data modeling concepts and dimensional modeling.
• Experience with version control systems (Git) for collaborative analytics work.
• Understanding of machine learning concepts and predictive analytics.
• Experience working in an agile development environment.
• Knowledge of data privacy regulations and best practices.
• Proficiency with Python data analysis libraries (Pandas, NumPy).
