Overview
Role
Data analysts are responsible for analyzing and interpreting large amounts of data. They work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors and frequently contribute to the development of new business strategy, ideas and methods. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine the best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. May provide mentoring and guidance to lower level employees.
Scope
Recognized subject matter expert who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field with limited oversight from managers. Independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; requires deep job knowledge of areas typically obtained through higher education combined with experience. Manages large projects or processes and problems faced are difficult and often complex; analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope and determines solutions. Functions with a high degree of autonomy. Influences others regarding policies, practices and procedures.

- Expert knowledge of Excel analytics; statistical analysis, survey tools, and research techniques.
- Advanced planning and organizational skills
- SQL fluency: Comfortable valudating queries against large fact tables
- Data instinct: Knows what "looks wrong" in a dataset, asks the right follow-up questions, and validates before sharing.
- Analytical storytelling: Answers "so what?", explains pockets of strength/weakness with a recommendation, not just tables.
- Curiosity for AI: Genuinely interested in using AI tools to do analysis better, faster; willing to experiment and share what works.
- Strong work ethic: Reliable, takes ownership, follows through; clear written updates; comfortable with ambiguous asks.
- Autonomous execution: USA-hours overlap for syncs; runs with high-level direction. ### Responsibilities
- Prepare and present complex statistical and narrative reports with an emphasis placed on detail and accuracy.
- Dissects and summarizes information with visually compelling charts and graphs to achieve understanding at all levels of the organization.
- Effectively presents and articulates findings to key stakeholders digitally, in person, and in written forms.
- Publishes standard and complex ad-hoc reports with varying detail for different audiences.
- Responsible for responding to and providing data for internal and/or external needs
- Work in a team environment to achieve organizational goals
- Develops and documents procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Provides innovation guidance with analytical results and insights
- Recommends improvements to existing processes and procedures based on data analysis findings
- Develops models that can be used to predict future outcomes based on current trends
- Interprets data to identify patterns and relationships between different variables
- Deep dive and investigate PoSA pockets, brand diagnostics, competitive analysis (Bing/Google, DATOS)
- Anomaly investigation and complex ad-hoc analysis, Triage alerts, Explain why a number moved, not just that it moved.
- Data validation: Sanity-checks, dashboards, and reports against source-of-truth SQL when the numbers feel off.
- AI-assisted analytics — Explore and adopt AI tools (Claude, Glean, internal copilots) to accelerate analysis; bring ideas, not just execute asks.
