Data Engineer

This role will support a major Australian bank in delivering a scalable platform to identify potential risks and opportunities from a changing climate. The platform will enhance climate risk management through advanced modelling and geospatial capabilities, while enriching mandatory disclosure reporting.

Initial engagement will be for 9 to 12 months with a view to extend.

Objective

Build and optimize data pipelines supporting climate risk modelling and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement ETL/ELT processes for climate, geospatial, and risk datasets.
• Leverage AWS services (Glue, Lambda, Postgres) for large-scale data ingestion and transformation.
• Ensure data quality, governance, and audit readiness for mandatory disclosures.
• Collaborate with data scientists and modelers to operationalise advanced analytics.
  
  

Required Skillset

AWS (Lambda, Glue), Postgres (with high proficiency in ETL/ETL/SQL).

Experience

8–11 years in data engineering, including financial services or regulated industries.
