Data Engineer

Overview

Lumen is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and architectures that enable effective data collection and analysis. You will work closely with data analysts and data scientists to ensure that our data infrastructure supports the needs of the business. Your expertise will help enhance our data quality and provide actionable insights that drive strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• 6-8 years of hands-on experience predominantly in data engineering, ETL/ELT, and modern data platforms such as (Synapse, Databricks, Big Query).
• Proven experience in data warehouse migration projects, especially from SQL Server to cloud native data platforms.
• Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Fabric (or readiness to ramp up quickly), Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure SQL Database and Power BI (dashboard design, optimization, and data modeling).
• Experience with programming (Python, PySpark, or Scala) for data engineering workloads in Databricks.
• Strong proficiency in SQL development, including writing complex queries and stored procedures
• Hands-on experience in building, training, and deploying machine learning models using frameworks like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• Skilled in feature engineering, model evaluation, and integrating ML workflows into data pipelines for production use.
• Experience in end-to-end ML lifecycle management (MLOps, MLflow, or Azure ML).
• Experience with SSIS package migration and reengineering
• Exposure to CI/CD practices for managing data workflows across environments
• Strong knowledge of cloud architecture (Azure preferred) and modern data Lakehouse concepts.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
