Job Overview
Branch launched in India in early 2019 and has seen rapid adoption and growth. We are expanding our product portfolio as well as our user base in all our markets including India, and are more than ever dependent on reliable data platforms and services to achieve our goals.
We are looking for talented interns to join our Data Engineering team and be part of this journey. As a Data Engineering Intern, you will work closely with experienced data engineers to design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines that power Branch’s analytics, reporting, and machine learning models. This is a 4–6 month program, with potential conversion into a full-time offer based on performance.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain reliable ETL/ELT data pipelines.
- Work with structured and unstructured data across multiple sources (databases, APIs, event streams).
- Support warehouse operations using modern OLAP tools (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Synapse).
- Implement data orchestration workflows using scheduling tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, Luigi, Dagster).
- Ensure data quality, reliability, and observability through validation and monitoring.
- Collaborate with data analysts, scientists, and backend engineers to ensure smooth data access for business and product teams. Qualifications
- Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, databases).
- Solid understanding of SQL and at least one programming language (preferably Python).
- Familiarity with cloud data services (AWS S3/RDS, GCP BigQuery, or Azure equivalents).
- Exposure to data warehousing concepts (star schema, dimensional modeling).
- Nice-to-have: Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Luigi, Prefect) or ETL frameworks (dbt).
- You are entrepreneurial and proactive in solving problems before they arise.
- You are collaborative, communicative, and comfortable working in a distributed team.
