Essential duties/responsibilities:
- Operationalize data governance policies, standards, and best practices in partnership with data stewards and data platform teams.
- Coordinate the implementation of stewardship processes to support metadata capture, data quality monitoring, and remediation activities.
- Maintain and enhance data governance platforms (e.g., Alation, Reltio, Informatica, Ataccama).
- Work with data stewards to define and document data definitions, ownership, and lineage.
- Partner with global teams to track data quality issues and support remediation efforts.
- Contribute to the development and upkeep of the business glossary, data catalog, and lineage documentation.
- Help define, monitor, track and report on KPIs related to data quality, accessibility, stewardship adoption, and governance effectiveness.
- Assist with governance tool configuration and support internal users through onboarding and training.
- Participate in governance council and working group meetings to help align governance practices across the enterprise.
Required job skills:
- Hands-on experience with data governance platforms such as Alation, Attaccama, Informatica.
- Understanding of core data governance concepts including metadata management, data quality, stewardship, and lineage.
- Strong analytical and documentation skills, with the ability to translate governance requirements into actionable tasks.
- Ability to collaborate across technical and business teams, communicating clearly and effectively.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and governance integration into agile workflows.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or enterprise data operations.
- 2+ Experience working with data stewards, business SMEs, and technical teams to document and maintain data assets.
- Comfortable working in a global, cross-functional setup across India and U.S. time zones.
- Exposure to enterprise data environments such as data lakes, data warehouses, or cloud data platforms.
- Familiarity with industry frameworks such as DAMA DMBOK or equivalent is a plus.
- Certification in data governance or related areas (e.g., CDMP) is a plus.
