Development Manager

Overview

Role: Development Manager

We are looking for an experienced Development Manager to lead software development teams while providing strong technical direction and delivery ownership. The ideal candidate will have a solid hands-on development experience in Java or Python, combined with proven experience in managing teams, driving engineering best practices, and delivering scalable, high-quality software solutions.

Location: Bengaluru

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical direction and guidance to development teams working on Java/Python-based applications
• Review system designs, architecture, and code to ensure scalability, security, and performance
• Guide teams on best practices in object-oriented design, design patterns, and clean code
• Drive adoption of modern engineering practices including microservices, APIs, CI/CD, and DevOps
• Collaborate with Architects on technical roadmap and long-term platform strategy

People Management

• Lead, mentor, and manage developers, senior engineers, and tech leads
• Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development discussions

Delivery & Execution

• Own end-to-end delivery of projects with clear timelines, quality benchmarks, and predictable outcomes
• Ensure adherence to Agile/Scrum methodologies

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with Product Managers, QA, DevOps, and Business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical execution
• Communicate delivery status, risks, and milestones to leadership

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field
• 8-12 years of overall software development experience
• Strong hands-on development background in Java or Python (minimum 5–6 years preferred)
• Solid understanding of system design, microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and databases
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)
• Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and SDLC

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in SaaS or product-based organizations
• Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native architectures
• Experience managing distributed or cross-functional teams
• Agile or technical certifications (CSM, SAFe, etc.)
