DevOps Engineer

About the job:

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer to join our growing technology team. This role will be pivotal in designing, deploying, and maintaining secure and scalable cloud infrastructure to support our advanced data-driven research workflows and AI-powered platforms. The ideal candidate has strong experience with cloud technologies (AWS/Azure/GCP), automation, and infrastructure-as-code, with a problem-solving mindset and a focus on performance and reliability.

Key responsibilities:

1. Design, deploy, and manage secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud infrastructure.
2. Implement automation for provisioning, monitoring, and scaling cloud resources.
3. Collaborate with developers and data teams to optimize deployment pipelines and workloads.
4. Manage containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS/AKS).
5. Ensure system reliability, cost-efficiency, and compliance with security best practices.
6. Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and support production systems.
7. Maintain infrastructure documentation and provide knowledge transfer to the team.
8. Implement DevSecOps best practices to integrate security into every stage of the pipeline.
9. Set up backup, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies for mission-critical workloads.
10. Continuously evaluate and adopt emerging cloud services to improve efficiency.
11. Monitor system performance, availability, and cost metrics using cloud-native and third-party tools.
12. Set up alerting and observability dashboards (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
13. Support cloud-hosted API projects, ensuring secure deployment, scalability, and integration.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
2. 1year hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure/GCP a plus).
3. Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, etc.).
4. Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
5. Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.).
6. Solid understanding of networking, security, and cloud monitoring tools.
7. Scripting/programming skills in Python, Bash, or similar.
8. Experience with database and storage services in the cloud (RDS, S3, BigQuery, etc.).
9. Experience with serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, GCP Cloud Functions).
10. Knowledge of identity and access management (IAM) and compliance standards (SOC2, GDPR).

Preferred skills:

1. Familiarity with financial data platforms and research workflows.
2. Exposure to AI/ML workloads on the cloud.
3. Knowledge of logging/monitoring stacks (Prometheus, ELK, Grafana, CloudWatch).
4. Cost optimization strategies in multi-cloud environments.
5. Prior experience in a fast-paced startup or research-driven environment.
6. Knowledge in software development or web development.
