About the Role
We’re hiring a Founding AI Engineer to lead the design and implementation of our document intelligence systems. You’ll be responsible for building scalable AI pipelines that extract structure, meaning, and insights from unstructured engineering design documents. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll help execute the document intelligence roadmap and product direction from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and optimize document processing pipelines for unstructured and semi-structured data
- Design and implement intelligent extraction systems using LLMs, OCR, and NLP techniques
- Design and refine pipelines that apply large language models (LLMs) to extract, structure, and validate information from construction documents, and free-text project documents
- Prototype, evaluate, and optimize techniques for information extraction, entity linking, data normalization, and confidence scoring
- Apply RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) and embedding-based search across large document sets
- Work with tools such as LangChain, CrewAI, Hugging Face, PyMuPDF, Tesseract, or Amazon Textract
- Integrate and fine-tune LLMs (e.g., OpenAI GPT-4, Claude, Mistral) for domain-specific understanding
- Set up vector search and memory frameworks (e.g., FAISS, Pinecone) for contextual recall
- Deploy and iterate on systems for prompt tuning, relevance evaluation, and performance tracking across varied document types and project datasets
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to embed document intelligence into core workflows
- Ensure accuracy, scalability, and observability of models in production
- Bridge the gap between research and production, transforming prototypes into scalable, production-ready AI components
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in AI/ML with a strong focus on Information extraction from pdf documents
- Proven experience working with PDFs, scanned documents, structured and unstructured formats
- Hands-on with LLMs, embeddings, prompt engineering, OCR, and NLP libraries
- Proficient in Python and frameworks such as PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, or LangChain
- Experience building scalable inference pipelines and optimizing LLM performance
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-ownership environments
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail and take full ownership
- Strong communication and collaboration in agile cross-functional teams
