About The Role
Red Elk Studios is hiring a Web Engineer to help build and enhance our cloud-based creative workspace. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with TypeScript and Python (Django or FastAPI) and is comfortable working across both frontend and backend. You will build user-facing features, support core APIs, and collaborate with the product team to deliver smooth, reliable web experiences.
Product is a visual-first cloud storage and AI workspace designed for creatives. It supports rich previews for RAW files, PSDs, videos, and more, enabling designers and teams to organize, collaborate, and present their work beautifully. Product integrates with tools like Figma and Adobe and features an evolving context-aware AI assistant that enables natural-language search, project summaries, idea generation, and metadata extraction — all within the same workspace.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain frontend features using TypeScript and modern web frameworks.
- Contribute to backend API development using Python (Django or FastAPI).
- Work with internal APIs, authentication, user management, and file operations.
- Integrate UI components with backend services in a clean and reliable manner.
- Write reusable, maintainable code and follow development best practices.
- Debug and resolve issues across the web stack.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to ship high-quality features.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving code quality.
- 3–5 years of experience building production web applications.
- Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript.
- Practical working knowledge of Python using Django or FastAPI.
- General familiarity with databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL/MongoDB — any is fine).
- General familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure — any is fine).
- Comfort working across frontend and backend environments.
- Ability to write clean, readable, and maintainable code.
- Good communication and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
