Role Overview

We're looking for a hands-on Full Stack Developer Lead to build and scale our legal compliance platform using the MERN stack. You'll lead a small, agile team while writing production code and making key technical decisions in a high-growth startup environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership (90% Hands-on Coding)

• Lead development of MERN stack applications for legal document management and compliance tracking
• Build secure, scalable Node.js APIs handling sensitive legal data
• Develop React frontends with modern UI/UX for legal professionals
• Implement Docker containerization and microservices architecture
• Design MongoDB schemas for complex legal workflows and document structures
• Mentor 2-3 developers while contributing significant code yourself

Security & Compliance Focus

• Implement enterprise-grade security: JWT authentication, data encryption, RBAC
• Build audit trails and logging systems for regulatory compliance
• Secure API development with rate limiting, input validation, and security headers
• Docker security best practices and container vulnerability scanning
• GDPR and data privacy compliance for legal industry requirements

DevOps & Infrastructure

• Containerize applications using Docker and Docker Compose
• Set up CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and security checks
• Deploy and manage containerized applications on cloud platforms
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for production systems
• Database optimization and performance tuning for MongoDB

Required Skills & ExperienceMust-Have Technical Skills

• Node.js: 4+ years building production APIs with Express.js
• React: Expert-level React development with hooks, context, and modern patterns
• MongoDB: Advanced MongoDB queries, aggregation pipelines, and schema design
• Docker: Hands-on experience containerizing applications and multi-container setups
• Security: JWT, OAuth, encryption, secure coding practices, API security
• Git: Proficient with Git workflows and code review processes

Leadership Experience

• 5+ years leading small development teams (2-5 developers)
• Experience mentoring junior developers and conducting code reviews
• Startup or fast-paced environment experience preferred
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Skills

• DevOps: AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, CI/CD (Jenkins/GitHub Actions)
• Testing: Jest, Mocha, integration testing, security testing
• Legal Domain: Understanding of legal workflows and compliance requirements
• Additional: Redis, Elasticsearch, GraphQL, TypeScript

Technical Stack

• Frontend: React 18, Redux Toolkit, Material-UI, TypeScript
• Backend: Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, Mongoose
• DevOps: Docker, Docker Compose, AWS/GCP, Jenkins
• Security: JWT, bcrypt, Helmet.js, rate limiting
• Tools: Git, Postman, MongoDB Compass, VS Code
