Overview
Job Title:
Full Stack VR Developer – Quest 2/3/Pro
Location: Remote
Job Type: Full-Time
Tech Stack: Unity or Unreal + Meta XR SDKs
The Mission
We’re building a next-gen VR experience for Meta Quest — from the ground up. No half-baked SDK demos. No Frankenstein legacy code. This is zero-to-one, real-time, high-performance virtual reality designed for immersion, presence, and perfection.
You’ll be responsible for everything that hits the user’s eyes and hands: rendering pipelines, physics, hand tracking, optimization, interaction, and boot-up flow. This isn’t just about frames — it’s about feeling real.
Performance Expectations
- Frame Rate: Minimum 72 Hz, preferred 90 Hz, and 120 Hz for Quest Pro
- Render Resolution: ~1832x1920 (Quest 2), ~2064x2208 (Quest 3) using dynamic/foveated rendering
- Latency: Less than 20 ms motion-to-photon
- App Load Time: 3 seconds or less from app launch to content
What You’ll Own
- Architecting the VR experience from scratch
- Deep integration with Meta XR SDKs (OpenXR, Passthrough, Hand Tracking, etc.)
- Building real-time rendering, scene streaming, and interaction systems
- Profiling and optimizing performance across CPU, GPU, and memory
- Leading technical direction, tooling, and workflows
Must-Have Skills
- Shipped VR apps for Meta Quest (preferably on App Lab or Store)
- Strong experience with Unity or Unreal Engine, including shader and rendering pipeline work
- Familiarity with Meta’s XR ecosystem: Oculus SDK, XR Interaction Toolkit, etc.
- Deep understanding of real-time rendering, async loading, and memory budgets
- Passion for building complete systems from the ground up
Bonus Skills
- Experience with multiplayer VR or networked physics
- HCI or 3D motion interaction design background
- Shader programming expertise (HLSL, GLSL, URP/HDRP)
- Experience with foveated rendering or gaze tracking
What You’ll Get
- Founder-level responsibility and early equity
- Full creative ownership — this is your build
- Collaborate with elite designers, AI engineers, and startup veterans
- Hardware/tools budget (you’ll get what you need — including a Quest Pro)
- A rare opportunity to help shape the future of immersive digital experiences How to Apply
Please submit:
- A link to your portfolio, GitHub, or shipped VR app
- A brief answer (in 5 sentences or less) to this:
- “How would you architect a Quest 3 app to run at 90 Hz at high resolution with under 3 seconds of load time?”
We’re looking for thinkers, builders, and VR perfectionists.
