IT HW-NW engineer

Overview

Role Summary:

The IT Hardware & Network Engineer will be responsible for providing hands-on support for computer hardware, software, and network troubleshooting at the site. This includes diagnosing issues, configuring equipment, performing installations, and maintaining system functionality with a focus on user support and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide hands-on support for Windows 10 & 11 systems and MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Troubleshoot computer hardware issues including no power, no post, no display, ports, drivers, firmware, BIOS, CMOS, RAM, and hard drives
• Perform basic configuration and installation of printers and peripherals
• Address user tickets related to hardware, software, and network problems
• Conduct remote troubleshooting and guide users through issue resolution
• Record and track technical issues and solutions using a ticketing system
• Escalate unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel as required
• Follow up with users to ensure full functionality and satisfaction
• Basic networking tasks including cable color coding (Peer-to-Peer & Straight), crimping, and switch configurations
• Basic knowledge of firewall configuration and rule creation
• Familiarity with network security practices and antivirus programs
• Customer-oriented approach with excellent problem-solving and multitasking skills

Required Qualifications:

• Diploma / Graduate in IT / Computer Science / Electronics or related field
• Additional certifications in hardware, networking, or security preferred

Experience & Industry Background:

• Prior experience in IT support, desktop engineering, or network troubleshooting
• Working knowledge of hardware diagnostics, MS Office, and basic networking concepts
• Experience with tracking systems and ticket management tools

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong understanding of computer hardware troubleshooting and peripheral configurations
• Basic networking skills, including cable management and switch handling
• Ability to configure firewall rules and basic printer setups
• Effective communication and customer service skills
• Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
• Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a dynamic environment
