Summary
We are seeking a skilled IT Platform Engineer III experienced in Hyper-V Administration to manage and maintain our virtualization infrastructure. Engineer will report into Manager - Virtualization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Microsoft’s Hyper-V platform, virtual machine management, system performance optimization, and backup strategies along with experience to migrate from VMware based solutions to HyperV with Minimum with 7+ years of experience in Storage on prem & Cloud, Person will be responsible for the 24/7 support & maintenance.
Primary Responsibilities
We are seeking a skilled IT Platform Engineer III experienced in Hyper-V Administration to manage and maintain our virtualization infrastructure. Engineer will report into Manager - Virtualization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Microsoft’s Hyper-V platform, virtual machine management, system performance optimization, and backup strategies along with experience to migrate from VMware based solutions to HyperV with Minimum with 7+ years of experience in Storage on prem & Cloud, Person will be responsible for the 24/7 support & maintenance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, configure, maintain & migrate to Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
- Create and manage virtual machines (VMs), virtual networks, and storage solutions.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hypervisor-related issues.
- Manage clustering, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery solutions.
- Perform backup and recovery operations for virtual environments.
- Apply patches and updates to hosts and VMs as necessary.
- Maintain documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
- Collaborate with other IT staff on system integrations and migrations.
- Implement and enforce security policies on virtualization infrastructure.
- Provide technical support and capacity planning for growth and upgrades.
- Knowledge on VMWare will be highly preferred
- 7+ years of experience managing Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
- Strong understanding of Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019, 2022).
- Experience with Hyper-V Replica, Failover Clustering, and Live Migration.
- Knowledge of networking concepts (VLANs, Virtual Switches, NIC Teaming).
- Familiarity with backup solutions like Veeam, DPM, or similar.
- Scripting experience (PowerShell mandatory) for automation tasks.
- Experience with System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) is a plus.
- Understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP in virtualized environments.
- Microsoft certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, or Azure Administrator Associate.
- Experience with hybrid environments (on-premises and Azure/AWS).
- Knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, Storage Spaces Direct).
