Java Backend Developer

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Java Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain robust backend applications using Java, with a key focus on microservices architecture and deployment on GCP. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, scalable, and reliable cloud-native solutions.

Essential Functions

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java (Spring Boot, Java/J2EE).
• Create and optimize scalable, reliable, and efficient microservices architectures.
• Implement RESTful APIs and manage integrations with third-party services.
• Deploy, monitor, and maintain microservices on GCP Cloud (Compute Engine, Kubernetes, Cloud Functions, etc.).
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Manage data storage with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in cloud-native and distributed systems.
• Ensure application security, performance, and scalability throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Perform unit and integration testing using frameworks such as Junit, Mockito.
• Participate in code reviews, Agile ceremonies, and CI/CD processes.
• Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams for seamless cloud deployments.
  
  

Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of hands-on experience with Java/J2EE, Spring Boot framework.
• Solid expertise in designing and implementing microservices, including schema design, service orchestration, and scaling.
• Strong knowledge of REST API development, integration, and testing.
• 2+ years’ experience deploying and operating applications in cloud environments, preferably GCP.
• Experience with containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) on GCP.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Maven/Gradle).
• Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Certifications in GCP Cloud or Java development.
• Experience with other cloud providers (AWS, Azure).
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Stackdriver, Prometheus, ELK).
• Knowledge of security best practices for cloud deployments.
