Java Developer

Overview

LiftOff is a product engineering company that helps entrepreneurs turn ideas into market-ready products. We are seeking a Java Developer alongside our engineering team on a variety of software projects spanning multiple languages, frameworks, and architectures.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and maintain backend services and APIs to support product features.
• Develop and expose RESTful APIs for application functionality, ensuring reliability and performance.
• Contribute to product architecture and design decisions, balancing short-term delivery with long-term maintainability.
• Write efficient, well-structured SQL queries and optimize database interactions.
• Maintain code quality through unit and integration testing, code reviews, and minimizing technical debt.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teammates to define requirements, estimate work, and deliver features.
• Participate in deployments and support production services, including troubleshooting and incident resolution.
  
  

• 3+ years of experience developing resilient backend systems in Java.
• Proficient in core Java (Java 8+), with hands-on experience building server-side applications.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and understanding of API design principles.
• Demonstrable experience in product development, system architecture, and design.
• Strong SQL skills and experience writing optimized queries.
• Familiarity with code quality practices, testing, and reducing technical debt.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills; ability to work closely with founders and engineering peers.
  
  

• Experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot and ORM technologies (e.g., JPA/Hibernate).
• Exposure to JavaScript/Node.js development.
• Familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, and CloudWatch.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with microservices architectures, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (Git).
