Junior Android Developer

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Junior Android Developer to be a part of the knitted tech and product team at Playo.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain features for Playo’s Android App using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Work closely with Senior Developers, Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, and Backend teams to design, build, and extend user-centric features.
• Ensure pixel-perfect implementation of UI as per designs using Jetpack Compose.
• Collaborate on building scalable, maintainable, and testable codebases.
• Integrate and interact with REST APIs using Retrofit for data services.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and problem-solving tasks.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in Android development and mobile technology.

Requirements:

• 0 – 2 years of experience in Android development.
• Strong programming knowledge in Kotlin and Java.
• Good understanding of Computer Science fundamentals and Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA).
• Experience with Jetpack Compose and ability to implement Pixel-Perfect UI designs.
• Basic knowledge of RxJava/Coroutines and Dependency Injection (Dagger/Hilt).
• Comfortable interacting with data services via REST APIs using Retrofit.
• Understanding of Activities, Fragments, and Jetpack Libraries (ViewModel, LiveData, etc.).
• Collaborative mindset, proactive attitude, and passion for solving complex problems.

Other good to have skills:

• Exposure to Kotlin Multiplatform (KMM) development.
• Knowledge of the Gradle build system.
• Personal or professional projects published on the Play Store or GitHub.
• Hands-on experimentation with Jetpack Compose in side projects.
• Awareness of modern app architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture).
