About the internship:
We are building an AI-powered learning platform for children that delivers personalized journeys, interactive quizzes, and voice-based experiences through our mobile application. We are looking for a junior backend engineer who will work on both the backend platform and applied AI systems, to help build and evolve backend services that power our AI-driven product features. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience building real production systems involving cloud infrastructure, APIs, and applied AI.
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Assist in building and maintaining backend services using Python.
2. Implement REST APIs used by mobile applications and internal tools.
3. Develop features supporting quizzes, learning journeys, and content workflows.
4. Integrate AI APIs such as LLMs and text-to-speech systems under guidance from senior engineers.
5. Implement prompts and support content pipeline development for AI-driven features.
6. Test and debug AI-generated outputs to ensure quality and reliability.
7. Work with databases to store user progress, generated content, and application data.
8. Build and support asynchronous jobs and background processing tasks.
9. Troubleshoot bugs and address performance issues within backend systems.
10. Contribute to containerized deployments using Docker and cloud infrastructure such as Azure.
11. Participate in CI/CD workflows and collaborative code reviews.
12. Follow engineering best practices related to security, testing, and documentation.

Other Requirements:
1. Have 0-2 years of backend development experience including internships or academic projects.
2. Basic proficiency in Python with familiarity with frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
3. Understanding of REST APIs and backend development fundamentals.
4. Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
5. Basic knowledge of databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or similar systems.
6. Interest in AI-powered applications and backend systems.
7. Exposure to LLM APIs or AI-based projects.
8. Familiarity with Docker or cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
9. Experience with personal or academic backend development projects.
10. Interest in technologies such as voice systems, chatbots, or personalization features.
