Summary Of The Position
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Junior Data Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role is integral to the creation of Management Information (MI) Dashboards and will drive intelligence and insights across our organisation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, and will thrive in a demanding, data-led environment. They will have a good understanding of Master Data Management & Data Science methodologies and how to apply these relevantly within the organisation.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Junior Data Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role is integral to the creation of Management Information (MI) Dashboards and will drive intelligence and insights across our organisation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, and will thrive in a demanding, data-led environment. They will have a good understanding of Master Data Management & Data Science methodologies and how to apply these relevantly within the organisation.
Key Accountabilities
- Support Development of Management Information Dashboards: Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining interactive MI Dashboards using Power BI under guidance. Help create data models and basic DAX queries, and assist with integrating data from various sources to support reporting needs.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Support the analysis of datasets to identify trends and insights that contribute to business decisions. Use basic statistical techniques and tools to assist in generating reports and dashboards.
- Business Intelligence Support: Help leverage data to support business intelligence initiatives and data-driven decision-making. Assist in implementing BI frameworks and improving data accessibility across teams.
- Collaboration: Work closely with team members and stakeholders to understand data requirements and support delivery of data solutions. Participate in training sessions to enhance data literacy within the organisation.
- Data Preparation and SQL: Perform data cleaning, validation, and basic data engineering tasks using SQL under supervision. Assist in automating data extraction and transformation processes.
- API Integration Support: Assist in maintaining API connections and integrating data sources into dashboards and data systems.
- Adherence to Standards: Follow established procedures and maintain accuracy and consistency in all data-related tasks. Support data governance and compliance with best practices.
- Continuous Learning and Improvement: Identify areas for personal and process improvement. Stay updated on basic data analysis techniques and BI tools to grow skills and contribute to innovation.
- Support Data Quality Assurance: Assist in following and improving data quality assurance processes to help maintain accuracy and reliability of data used in reporting and analysis. Participate in routine data quality checks and audits.
- Data Cleansing and Validation: Help identify and correct data errors and inconsistencies. Perform basic data cleaning tasks to ensure datasets are reliable for analysis.
- Monitor Data Quality Metrics: Support tracking and reporting on data quality indicators. Help communicate data issues to relevant teams and follow up on resolutions.
- Use of Data Quality Tools: Assist in using data quality software and tools to automate checks and maintain consistent data standards.
- Maintain Master Data: Assist in ensuring master data accuracy and consistency across the organisation under supervision. Help implement and follow MDM policies and procedures.
- Support Data Governance: Help monitor master data quality and support data governance initiatives, including conducting basic audits and corrective actions.
- Collaborate for Integration: Work with IT and business teams to support the integration of master data with other systems.
- Training and Documentation: Assist in preparing user guides and providing basic training/support on MDM tools and processes.
- Introduction to Machine Learning: Gain exposure to machine learning concepts like regression, classification, and clustering. Support simple predictive modelling tasks with guidance.
- Basic Statistical Analysis: Assist in performing statistical analyses to interpret data and generate reports, learning to use relevant programming languages and tools.
- Data Visualisation: Help create clear and effective data visualisations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Big Data Tools: Learn about big data technologies and platforms to understand how large datasets are managed and analysed.
- Research and Development Support: Stay updated on data science trends and assist in applying new techniques as part of continuous learning and team projects.
- Technical Skills: Basic to intermediate proficiency in Power BI or similar BI tools. Familiarity with SQL and APIs is desirable, with willingness to learn and develop these skills further. Exposure to data warehousing concepts or tools like Azure Data Factory is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Data Handling: Foundational understanding of data cleaning, transformation, and preparation. Familiarity with data modelling and database concepts is helpful.
- Data Quality: Awareness of data quality concepts, with experience or interest in data cleansing and validation. Willingness to learn data quality tools and best practices.
- Excel Skills: Good working knowledge of Excel, including Pivot Tables and Power Query. Ability to perform basic data analysis and automate simple tasks within Excel.
