What You’ll Be Doing
As a Junior Data & Business Intelligence Analyst , you will:
- Assist the data team in producing reports and management information used to monitor the college’s key performance metrics.
- Collaborate closely with experienced Data and Business Intelligence Analysts to support the creation of clear, accessible visualisations of management information.
- Use a range of data tools and software to maintain current reports and performance data.
- Coordinate the end-to-end administration of student and stakeholder satisfaction surveys, including design, distribution response tracking and report development.
- Design, build, and maintain dynamic, user-friendly Microsoft forms that support data collection, workflow automation, and user engagement to ensure accurate data capture for reporting and decision-making.
- Use Power Automate to streamline data-related tasks.
- Upload, tag, and organise files within SharePoint libraries.
- Design, implement, and optimise automated email workflows.
We seek candidates who hold :
Essential
- Minimum of a level 3 qualification in mathematics, computer science, computing, statistics, science or a data related subject.
- GCSE mathematics grade 9-4 (A*-C) (or equivalent).
- GCSE English language grade 9-4 (A*-C) (or equivalent).
- Basic statistics and data literacy: Understanding of averages, distributions, correlations, and basic statistical concepts.
- Data visualisation principles: Awareness of how to present data clearly using charts, graphs, and dashboards.
- Understanding of business metrics: Familiarity with performance indicators, and how data supports decision-making.
- Analytical thinking: Ability to interpret data and identify patterns or trends.
- Accuracy: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting.
- Collaboration: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Communication: Ability to explain findings in a clear, non-technical way.
- Curiosity and problem-solving: Eagerness to explore data and ask questions.
- Excel or Google sheets: Comfortable with spreadsheets, formulas, pivot tables, and basic data cleansing.
- SQL: Ability to write simple queries to extract and filter data from databases.
- Database fundamentals: Familiarity with entity relationship diagrams, relational databases (e.g. SQL Server, MySQL) and basic querying using SQL.
- Data preparation: Understanding of principles for identifying and correcting errors, duplicates, and inconsistencies in datasets for analysis.
- Analytical programming: Familiarity with an analytical programming language such as Python or R.
