Position : L2 Network Engineer
Location : Solan, Himachal Pradesh
Salary : 30K to 40K Per Month
Experience : 2-4 years of experience in network support or operations, preferably within a NOC or similar environment.
Shift: Rotational
Qualification : Diploma / Bachelor's (IT/Computer Science)
Skills: Proficiency in networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS) and hands-on experience with Cisco devices (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.).
Job Description:
- An L2 Network Engineer in a Network Operations Centre (NOC) is responsible for providing intermediate-level network support, monitoring, and troubleshooting for network infrastructure.
- This role typically involves handling more complex network issues that are escalated from Level 1 engineers, performing root cause analysis, and working on network performance optimization.
- The engineer will ensure the continuous uptime of network services and collaborate with other teams for major issues and upgrades.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Incident Management & Troubleshooting:
- Handle and resolve escalated network issues from L1 engineers, performing deeper analysis and resolution of network problems, including connectivity, routing, and switching issues.
- Perform root cause analysis for network outages, slowdowns, and other network anomalies.
- Use advanced network diagnostic tools to identify, resolve, and prevent reoccurrence of network-related issues (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, Cisco Prime).
2. Network Monitoring & Performance Optimization:
- Continuously monitor network performance and availability using network monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, Nagios).
- Analyze traffic patterns, bandwidth utilization, and latency, and take proactive steps to optimize the network performance.
- Identify and resolve network bottlenecks, ensuring smooth data flow across the network infrastructure.
3. Configuration & Change Management:
- Assist in the configuration and deployment of network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless devices).
- Implement network configuration changes as per operational requirements and design specifications, ensuring minimal impact on network performance.
- Work with senior engineers to perform network upgrades, patches, and firmware updates to keep the network secure and up-to-date.
4. Escalation & Collaboration:
- Act as the escalation point for L1 engineers when they are unable to resolve issues.
- Work closely with other teams such as security, systems, and application support to ensure seamless network operations.
- Collaborate with vendors and third-party support teams when necessary to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
5. Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of network issues, solutions, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
- Provide detailed reports on network performance, incidents, and resolutions to management.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for common network issues and tasks.
6. Network Security:
- Monitor and enforce network security protocols to prevent unauthorized access and ensure data integrity.
- Assist with configuring and maintaining firewalls, VPNs, and other security measures to safeguard the network.
- Help investigate network security incidents and collaborate with the security team to mitigate risks.
7. Backup and Disaster Recovery:
- Assist in ensuring network redundancy and backup configurations are in place.
- Participate in the creation and testing of network disaster recovery plans and ensure the network infrastructure is resilient to outages.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
