Job Description

As an L3 SD-WAN Engineer specializing in Viptela, you will be a critical technical leader within our network engineering team. You will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of Viptela SD-WAN deployments, from initial design and implementation to advanced troubleshooting and ongoing management. Your deep understanding of Viptela architecture, Layer 2/3 technologies, and routing protocols, combined with your strong troubleshooting capabilities, will be essential for success in this remote role.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Viptela SD-WAN architecture, components (vManage, vSmart, vEdge), and design principles.
• Architect and design scalable and secure SD-WAN solutions based on Viptela technology to meet specific customer requirements.
• Possess strong hands-on experience with Viptela vManager, including configuration, monitoring, and management of the SD-WAN fabric.
• Utilize vManager for policy creation, device onboarding, and overall SD-WAN orchestration.
• Take end-to-end responsibility for designing, implementing, configuring, and managing Viptela SD-WAN appliances and solutions.
• Oversee the deployment and integration of vEdges in various network environments.
• Exhibit a strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking technologies, including VLANs, vPC (Virtual PortChannel), and network segmentation techniques.
• Apply this knowledge in the context of SD-WAN deployments and integrations.
• Possess a deep understanding of BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) and OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) routing protocols and their application within SD-WAN environments.
• Configure and troubleshoot routing policies and neighbor relationships in Viptela SD-WAN.
• Demonstrate advanced Level 3 troubleshooting capabilities for complex network issues within Viptela SD-WAN environments, including routing, connectivity, and performance problems.
• Utilize network analysis tools and methodologies to diagnose and resolve intricate issues.
• Collaborate effectively with project managers, other engineers, and stakeholders to ensure successful SD-WAN deployments and ongoing support.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely in both written and verbal forms.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to SD-WAN designs, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Implement and adhere to industry best practices and security guidelines for SD-WAN deployments.
  
  

Preferred Certifications

• Viptela Certified SD-WAN Associate (VNX100)
• Viptela Certified Administrator SD-WAN Specialist (VNX300)
• CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) or equivalent industry certifications.
  
  

Experience : 10+ years of relevant experience in network engineering, with a significant focus on SD-WAN and demonstrable hands-on experience with Viptela technology.
