Role Overview
The Lead Data Engineer drives technical execution and provides leadership to Senior Engineers and QA Engineers. This role ensures engineering excellence, performs design/code reviews, and supports the Principal Engineer in delivering scalable, secure, and reliable data pipelines for enterprise-level data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of Spark-based data pipelines and transformation workflows
- Mentor Senior Engineers and enforce engineering standards and patterns
- Conduct design and code reviews for performance, quality, and maintainability
- Collaborate with TPM and Product Owners to plan sprints and manage delivery milestones
- Troubleshoot complex data engineering issues and drive RCA
- Translate architectural direction into actionable engineering tasks
- 9–12 years of Data Engineering experience
- Strong Spark (Scala/Python/Java) and Hadoop/Object Storage expertise
- Advanced SQL across Oracle, Netezza, Hive, or similar platforms
- Proven ability to mentor and lead engineering teams in Agile environments
- Strong analytical and communication skills
