Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Senior C++ Software Engineer to design, implement, and optimize software applications for mining, drilling, and construction equipment. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in C++, is proficient in Linux, and has solid understanding of automation testing. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build reliable and efficient solutions that support automation and control systems in heavy equipment operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of C++ applications for underground drilling and material handling equipment, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Architect and implement software modules for machine control, sensor integration, and automation workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including system engineering, product management, and testing to define and deliver robust solutions.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and enforce best practices in software development.
- Drive continuous improvement in software quality, maintainability, and performance.
- Integrate software with embedded systems, PLCs, and cloud-based services where applicable.
- Contribute to DevOps pipelines and CI/CD workflows using Azure DevOps.
- Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and agile ceremonies as a technical leader.
- Lead to develop and execute automation tests using Pytest.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Conduct testing, debugging, and validation of control systems to ensure they meet performance and safety standards.
- Stay updated on advancements in control technologies and best practices.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, or Computer Science.
- 8–12 years of experience in C++ (C++11/14/17), with strong OOP and multithreading expertise.
- Proven experience in Qt GUI development and PyQt.
- Hands-on experience with embedded Linux, RTOS, and Yocto.
- Familiarity with communication protocols: CAN, J1939, LIN, Ethernet.
- Strong debugging skills using GDB and performance profiling tools.
- Experience with automation testing frameworks like Pytest.
- Experience with Embedded Linux, RTOS, and Shell scripting.
- Exposure to control systems, sensor fusion (LiDAR, IMU, cameras), and ADAS concepts.
- Experience in underground drilling or material handling domains is highly desirable.
- Experience with Azure Devops Eco System
- Experience with Yocto for custom Linux distributions.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Previous experience in heavy machinery in mining, construction, or automotive control systems
- Self-starter with curiosity to learn and an exploratory mindset
- Experience in ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems)
- Develop and integrate software for sensor calibration, sensor fusion, including LiDAR, cameras, and IMUs, for future autonomous capabilities
- Solid understanding of control systems and sensor integration
- Experience with machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, or AI techniques.
- Experience with simulation tools like Gazebo, Unity or Unreal.
- Familiarity with Docker, REST APIs, FastAPI, and MQTT.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with real-time systems, embedded software and Qt IDE is a plus.
