Lead Software Engineer (Mobile)

About the Unit
Yara has an ambitious strategic agenda to be the crop nutrition company for the future and is taking lead in the development towards sustainable agriculture and digital tools, to contribute to solving the challenges which the agricultural industry is facing globally. We have a worldwide presence with sales to ~150 countries and around 17 000 employees. The newly established function, Yara Farming Solutions, will lead the transformation towards more sustainable and efficient food production, by innovating our offering and the way we work.
The software engineering department is responsible for developing and scaling new “on-farm” digital and integrated tools and solutions, which will work toward driving a more efficient and transparent food system and better live environment.
We are seeking an experienced Lead Mobile Developer to drive the development of high-quality mobile applications using React Native for both iOS and Android. You will play a critical leadership role in our cross-functional product team, contributing both as a hands-on engineer and as a mentor to others. This is an opportunity to shape our mobile technology strategy and work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to build apps that deliver real value to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a cross-functional team of software engineers and QA engineers, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture
- Work closely with an international product team—including product managers, designers, and engineers—to build user-focused mobile applications that solve real customer needs
- Drive the full product lifecycle, from prototyping and MVP development through to launch, maintenance, and ongoing improvement
- Shape the technical direction of our mobile platform by making informed architectural decisions and adopting best practices in React Native, DevOps, testing, and CI/CD
- Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies to guide long-term strategy and future-proof solutions
- Decompose complex challenges into clear, actionable development tasks and lead the team in delivering scalable, maintainable solutions
- Mentor and develop team members, providing regular feedback, guidance, and support to help engineers grow technically and professionally
- Support career and personal growth by setting development goals, conducting annual personal development plans, and tracking progress regularly
- Lead performance management activities, including annual reviews, goal setting, bonus recommendations, and salary discussions with fairness and transparency
Profile
- 4+ years of professional experience in building mobile applications using React Native
- OR 4+ years of experience developing scalable front-end applications using React.js or similar technologies
- OR 4+ years of experience building backend services using Node.js, NestJS, or other modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks
- At least 1 year of experience leading a software development team, with a proven ability to mentor engineers and manage performance
- Extensive experience with JavaScript/TypeScript in production environments
- Strong knowledge of React Native mobile development, with experience delivering and maintaining applications on both iOS and Android platforms
- Practical knowledge of unit and integration tests and working with CI/CD pipelines
- Experience in mobile app distribution, including publishing and maintaining apps
- To be comfortable working with agile development methodologies such as Scrum or SAFe
Nive to have
- Experience working with GraphQL (e.g. Apollo Server/Client) in a production environment
- Experience with AWS, Docker and/or Kubernetes
