Overview

About Us

At Providence Global Center Hyderabad, we build and operate highly reliable, secure, and scalable enterprise network platforms that support mission‑critical applications across on‑premises and hybrid cloud environments. Our Network Engineering team focuses on automation, visibility, and operational excellence by leveraging industry‑leading tools such as SolarWinds, Cisco ISE, Infoblox DDI, and Azure networking services. As part of our ongoing transformation, we are expanding our capabilities in Infrastructure as Code, analytics, and data‑driven operations to improve reliability, compliance, and efficiency across the organization.

Job Overview

As a Network Engineer II, you will design, support, and maintain enterprise LAN environments, including switching, VLANs and redundancy, to ensure stable and secure network connectivity.

You will work closely with the Network Operations team to monitor, troubleshoot and resolve LAN incidents, and you will participate in an On-Call rotation to provide timely support for network outages and critical issues outside business hours.

You will track DPMO (Defects Per Million Opportunities) to reduce repeat LAN problems and improve overall network reliability.

You will also support LGW (LAN Get Well) activities by assisting in the replacement of End‑of‑Life (EOL) network devices, helping keep the LAN environment stable, secure and up to date.

This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, hands‑on experience with enterprise switches, Multicast, routing protocol and the ability to work effectively in a team‑based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support day‑to‑day LAN network operations across campus, clinic and hospital environments.
  • Participate in On-Call rotation to troubleshoot and restore LAN outages and critical incidents.
  • Monitor LAN health using operational dashboards and alerts, act on configuration compliance gaps.
  • Responsible for access‑layer stability, with strong knowledge of STP/RSTP/MST, root‑bridge design, and rapid resolution of loop and convergence issues in campus LANs
  • Troubleshoot Layer‑2 and Layer‑3 LAN issues including VLANs, trunking, STP, port‑channels, and access connectivity.
  • Drive DPMO improvements by identifying recurring issues and reducing repeat network defects.
  • Execute LGW (LAN Get Well) activities focused on EOL device replacement across access, distribution and core layers.
  • Perform IOS upgrades, hardware refreshes, and switch lifecycle activities aligned with standards.
  • Plan and execute maintenance window changes, including cutovers, migrations, and post‑change validation.
  • Create and follow MOPs, perform port mapping, and coordinate with field/CTS/EUS teams during site work.
  • Ensure configuration standardization and compliance across LAN devices.
  • Support incident management, RCA and problem management with clear documentation and communication.
  • Collaborate with LAN Engineering, Wireless, Security and Service Desk teams to maintain stable and reliable LAN services.
  • Use SolarWinds to monitor switch availability, performance, alerts, and inventory; ensure LAN devices are properly onboarded and monitored.
  • Support network segmentation initiatives, including VLAN‑based segmentation and coordination with Cisco ISE enforcement for access control and policy compliance.
  • Implement and maintain DCFC LAN standards, ensuring switch configurations, design, and segmentation align with approved enterprise and clinical network guidelines.
  • Identify and automate repetitive LAN operational tasks using Python, Ansible, or similar scripting tools to improve efficiency, consistency, and reliability across campus access‑layer environments.

What would your day look like?

  • Start the day by reviewing LAN health and alerts in SolarWinds, ensuring switches across campuses, clinics, and hospitals are online and compliant.
  • Respond to incidents and service requests, troubleshooting Layer‑2 and Layer‑3 LAN issues such as VLANs, trunking, STP, and access connectivity.
  • Own access‑layer health, proactively managing STP/RSTP/MST and responding quickly to any campus LAN loop or convergence events.
  • Work with Wireless and Security teams to resolve connectivity and network segmentation issues, including VLAN placement and Cisco ISE enforcement.
  • Perform proactive operational work, analysing recurring issues and contributing to DPMO reduction to improve network reliability.
  • Execute planned maintenance activities, including IOS upgrades, hardware refreshes, and LGW (LAN Get Well) EOL device replacements.
  • Prepare and follow MOPs, coordinate with CTS/EUS field teams, perform cutovers, and validate network stability after changes.
  • Ensure LAN configuration standardization and DCFC standards are followed across the environment.
  • Participate in On-Call support as needed, restoring service during after‑hours outages and handing off updates clearly to the team.
  • Develop automation scripts (Python/Ansible) to eliminate repetitive LAN operational tasks and improve run‑time efficiency.

Who are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent in Engineering/Technology.
  • 3–5 years total experience in enterprise networking/operations, with:
    • 3+ years hands-on experience on LAN protocols.
    • 3+ years with EOL device replacements
    • 2+ years with Cisco ISE, multicast and routing protocols.
  • Engineer who has good Knowledge of L2/L3 networking: VLANs, STP/MST, LACP/Port‑Channel, OSPF/BGP, HSRP/VRRP, QoS, ACLs/NAT.
  • hands‑on LAN engineer who owns day‑to‑day campus access‑layer stability across campuses, clinics, and hospitals.
  • An engineer comfortable responding to incidents and service requests, troubleshooting Layer 2 and Layer 3 LAN issues including VLANs, trunking, STP, and access connectivity
  • A strong owner of the access layer, proactively managing STP/RSTP/MST and responding quickly to loop or convergence events to minimize user impact.
  • A proactive Engineer who analyses recurring issues, contributes to DPMO reduction and continuously improves LAN reliability.
  • An engineer experienced in planned maintenance and lifecycle activities, including IOS upgrades, hardware refreshes, and EOL (LGW) device replacements.
  • A disciplined Engineer who ensures LAN configuration standardization and DCFC standards are consistently followed.
  • A team member willing to participate in On-Call support, restore service during after‑hours outages, and provide clear handoffs and documentation.
  • An engineer who identifies and automates repetitive LAN operational tasks using Python, Ansible or similar scripting tools to improve efficiency, consistency, and reduce manual errors.
