Network Engineer L1

Overview

Responsibilities:

• Network Monitoring and Alerting:
• Monitor network infrastructure performance and availability using various monitoring tools.
• Respond to network alerts and notifications, performing initial troubleshooting and analysis.
• Escalate complex issues to L2/L3 engineers according to established procedures.
• Basic Network Configuration and Maintenance:
• Assist in the configuration and maintenance of network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points under supervision.
• Perform basic network configuration changes as directed.
• Apply standard network security configurations and updates.
• Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
• Perform initial diagnosis and troubleshooting of network connectivity issues for end-users and systems.
• Follow documented procedures to resolve common network problems.
• Gather relevant information and logs for efficient escalation.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, issues, and resolutions.
• Generate basic network performance reports as required.
• Hardware and Software Support:
• Assist with the installation, configuration, and basic troubleshooting of network hardware and software.
• Coordinate with vendors for hardware repairs or replacements as needed.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work effectively with other IT team members, including L2/L3 engineers and helpdesk staff.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with end-users regarding network issues and resolutions.
• Adherence to Policies and Procedures:
• Follow established network policies, procedures, and security guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2-3 years of hands-on experience in network administration or support.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., static routing).
• Familiarity with network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, HP).
• Basic understanding of network security concepts and technologies.
• Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix).
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently as well as part of a team.
• A proactive attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow in the networking field.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, Network+) are a plus.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹10,528.73 - ₹35,201.10 per month
