BMC is looking for a Principal Data Scientist to join our amazing DSOM team, responsible for development of a SaaS IT Service Management (ITSM) product.

In this role, you will be responsible for End-to-end design and execution of BMC Data Science tasks, while acting as a focal point and expert for our data science activities. You will research and interpret business needs, develop predictive models, and deploy completed solutions. You will provide expertise and recommendations for plans, programs, advance analysis, strategies, and policies.

Here is how, through this exciting role, YOU will contribute to BMC's and your own success:

• Build out prototypes using a variety of cutting-edge technologies and tools.
• Develop advanced quantitative models using a variety of programs/software to support predictive assessments.
• Support adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) solutions.
• Provide expertise for analytical, programmatic, strategic, and operational analysis.
• Perform multiple forms of advanced analyses, sustainment, optimization, text analytics, machine learning, parametric and non-parametric statistical models & techniques.
• Build, test, validate and demonstrate analytical models through various relevant error metrics and calibration techniques.
• Provide recommendations for plans, programs, strategies, policies, and budgets.
• Design algorithms that require several different models/methods to be used in an ensemble.
• Deploy models into production.
• Act as a technical lead for the team – mentoring more junior employees, provide advanced technical recommendations, perform more complex tasks and act as the go-to-person for any technical advice.
  
  

To ensure you’re set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:

• B.Sc. & M.Sc. in Computer Science / Applied Mathematics / Statistics or another related field
• At least 7 years of experience in Data Science roles
• Experience in leading Data Science tasks and/or projects
• Experience developing algorithms using data science technologies to build analytical models.
• Modelling experience using a variety of regression and supervised and unsupervised learning techniques.
• Experience in developing software applications with Python, Java, Golang or any other modern language.
• Innovative mindset, with initiative and can-do attitude
• Excellent learning agility and great analytical skills.
  
  

Whilst these are nice to have, our team can help you develop in the following skills:

• Experience in data wrangling/cleansing, statistical modeling, and programming.
• Experience in Container technology such as Docker, Kubernetes, Helm Charts, etc.
• Experience with DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with AWS / Google Cloud or Azure
• Experience working with Apache Spark
• Experience in message bus technologies such as Kafka
• Enterprise software development practices

Actual salaries depend on a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training, licensure, and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

The salary listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits.
