Your Impact
The Fortify Software Security Center (SSC) team is building a suite of tools to help our clients visualize data, review and audit vulnerabilities. You will be Principal Software Engineer on the team, and you will contribute to projects that aid in the aggregation, analysis, and visualization of source code vulnerabilities to secure applications.

What The Role Offers
- Contribute to architectural changes of the application, research and develop deep internal changes of the product. Be involved in architectural design decisions.
- Analyze, design, program, debug, and modify software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, or Internet- related computer programs, primarily for end users.
- Using current programming language and technologies, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications.
- Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
- May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
- At least 12 years of experience in software development
- Software application design
- Develops product architectures and methodologies for software applications design and development across multiple platforms and organizations within the Global Business Unit.
- Identifies and evaluates new technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships for alignment with technology roadmap and business value; creates plans for integration and update into architecture.
- Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
- Leverages recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership, outsourced development partners, and industry standards groups.
- Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members to set an example of software applications design and development innovation and excellence
- Secure Software Design principles
- Strong knowledge of Java language and SQL (Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL)
- Hands-on experience with Java Spring framework, J2EE, Hibernate/JPA
- Knowledge and understanding of REST-like APIs
- Knowledge and understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, MicroServices
- Knowledge and understanding of Git
- Experience in overall architecture of software applications (multi-platform) for products and solutions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in solving ‘scalability’ and performance problems of an enterprise application.
- Experience with exception and error handling
- Understanding of resource management in Java
- Knowledge and experience of Agile development practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at business unit and executive levels.
- Hands-on experience with Tomcat
- Knowledge and understanding of Liquibase
- Knowledge and understanding of Lucene
- Evaluating and selecting tools and processes for software applications testing and methodology
- History of innovation with multiple patents or deployed solutions in the field of software design, preferred but not a requirement
- Knowledge and understanding of Secure coding practices.
