Position Overview
Job Title: QA / ETL Tester
Responsibilities
ETL Testing: Develop and implement comprehensive test plans and strategies for ETL processes, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and completeness in the data warehouse.
Data Validation: Validate data at various stages of the ETL process, including data extraction, transformation, and loading, to ensure the integrity of the data warehouse.
Test Automation: Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks to streamline testing processes and enhance efficiency.
Regression Testing: Conduct thorough regression testing to identify and mitigate any potential issues or bugs introduced during the development process.
Performance Testing: Perform performance testing to assess the responsiveness, scalability, and stability of ETL processes and data pipelines, collaborating with the development team to optimize performance.
Collaboration: Work closely with data engineers, data analysts, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, identify potential risks, and provide QA insights throughout the development lifecycle.
Documentation: Create detailed test cases, test reports, and documentation to facilitate effective communication and knowledge sharing within the team.
Data Warehouse Concepts: Apply knowledge of dimensional modeling and data warehouse concepts, such as star schemas, snowflakes, dimensions, and facts, in the testing process.
Sign-offs: Ensure all sign-offs on deliverables (overall test strategy, test plan, test cases) and that testing meets governance requirements.
Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of work and the work of the entire development team.
Data Analysis: Write and execute queries to validate data and troubleshoot erroneous results, logging defects, and working with the development team to resolve software-related defects.
Technical Skills
ETL Tools: Experience with ETL tools and frameworks, preferably with Azure Data Factory and DBT.
Cloud Platforms: Proficiency in using Snowflake for data warehousing.
API Testing: Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, SoapUI, or similar.
SQL and Scripting: Proficiency in SQL and scripting for data validation and test case data comparison.
Automation: Experience in test automation using tools like Selenium WebDriver, pytest, or similar.
Agile/Scrum: Understanding of Agile/Scrum development principles.
Data Integration: Knowledge of data integration techniques and best practices.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
5-8 years of experience in quality assurance, with a focus on ETL and data warehousing.
Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with data warehousing concepts.
Experience with cloud data platforms, preferably Snowflake.
Familiarity with ETL tools like Azure Data Factory and DBT.
Knowledge of software testing best practices, methodologies, and tools.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and provide effective solutions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Experience or familiarity with healthcare domain concepts and regulations is a plus.
