Role Summary

As a Mid-Level QA Engineer, you will be responsible for full-cycle manual testing across all Sotrue platforms. You will design test plans, write test cases, validate API integrations, test video workflows, ensure release readiness, and maintain high-quality standards across the product.

You will help lead QA processes and collaborate closely with developers and PMs.

Key Responsibilities

Test Execution & Planning

• Create detailed test plans, test cases, and test strategies
• Perform functional, regression, smoke, and sanity testing
• Test across Web, Mobile, TV, and Admin panels
• Validate video playback, streaming flows, player UI, and clip interactions
• Perform cross-browser and cross-device testing
• Test database-level impacts with backend team (basic SQL)
• Perform release testing and sign-off

API & Backend Testing

• Test API endpoints using Postman
• Validate request/response flows with backend team
• Test authentication, sessions, and error-handling scenarios

Collaboration & Communication

• Work with developers to clarify requirements
• Analyze and document root cause (RCA) for common issues
• Mentor Junior QA team members
• Maintain quality documentation and release notes

Quality & Process Improvements

• Ensure proper bug quality: steps, logs, screenshots/videos
• Help refine QA processes and introduce improvements
• Identify test gaps and add new scenarios
• Participate in sprint planning and QA estimations

Must-Have Skills

• 2–5 years of manual testing experience
• Strong experience testing Web and Mobile apps
• Good knowledge of React/React Native app testing behaviors
• Experience with API testing tools (Postman, Thunder Client)

• Understanding of:

  • Functional testing
  • Regression testing
  • Smoke/Sanity testing
  • Negative testing

• Strong understanding of UI/UX testing

• Familiarity with Jira/Trello/GitHub Issues

• Strong attention to detail and thoroughness

• Excellent communication and documentation skills

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience testing TV apps (Android TV, Fire TV, Tizen, etc.)

• Knowledge of OTT concepts:

  • HLS playback
  • Buffering/seek
  • Auto-play
  • Playlist/rail testing

• Basic SQL knowledge for data verification

• Experience testing admin dashboards

• Familiarity with basic logs & debugging on mobile devices

• Experience writing simple automation scripts (bonus but not required)
