QA Engineer

Overview

Job Title: QA Engineer 

Location: Pune, India 

Responsibilities:

• Be responsible for both functional and automated testing of GemOne applications using Agile principles.
• Ensure high-quality IT applications by meeting customer needs and improving efficiency across the software development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with team members to:
  • Review acceptance criteria of user stories,
  • Translate them into test cases,
  • Gather the correct information to verify applications meet (non-)functional requirements.
• Prepare test scripts using Playwright, Protractor, and Cucumber.
• Define testing components and perform regression testing to verify software quality.
• Assist in the maintenance of testing frameworks and environments used throughout development.
• Track and report bugs in a structured way, identify bottlenecks, and suggest improvements.
• Act as a knowledge hub in your area of expertise to support and mentor squad members.
• Handle 2nd line support issues, including gathering additional information, assessing urgency, performing root cause analysis, assigning issues to product teams, and communicating feedback to customers.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in software testing and test automation.
• Solid understanding of software testing methodologies, functional and regression testing, QA tools, and processes.
• Experience with coding in JavaScript / TypeScript. Experience in Java or Python is acceptable if the candidate has basic JavaScript understanding and is willing to learn TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience creating automated web tests, preferably using Playwright. Knowledge of similar frameworks (Protractor, Selenium, Geb, Cypress) is acceptable if the candidate is willing to learn Playwright.
• Basic experience with a relational database (preferably PostgreSQL).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with both internal users and customers.
• Fluent in English.
• Willingness to travel to Belgium 2–3 times per year.

Bonus Points

Candidates with the following will be prioritized:

• Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform or other cloud systems (AWS, Azure, etc.).
• Basic understanding of integration technologies and tools such as:
  • GCP Pub/Sub,
  • Amazon SQS,
  • RabbitMQ,
  • ActiveMQ,
  • Kafka,
  • Apache Camel, etc.
• Experience in event-driven solution architectures (e.g., IoT).
• Additional programming languages or testing certifications.
