Scrum Master

Overview

The IT Scrum Master provides delivery leadership and Agile coaching to one or more technology teams, enabling the successful execution of initiatives that support the organization’s business strategy. This role is responsible for ensuring teams follow Agile and Scrum practices, deliver value predictably, and operate within established scope, timeline, and quality expectations.

The Scrum Master monitors team progress, facilitates transparency, manages risks and impediments, and ensures appropriate escalation and communication to stakeholders and leadership.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

• Serve as Scrum Master for assigned Agile teams, providing leadership, facilitation, and coaching to support successful delivery.
• Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Coach teams, Product Owners, and stakeholders on Agile principles, Scrum practices, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Product Owners to support backlog prioritization, refinement, and clarity of user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Identify, track, and proactively remove impediments, risks, and dependencies impacting team performance.
• Promote transparency by tracking and communicating Agile metrics such as velocity, capacity, sprint progress, and delivery trends.
• Support Agile planning and execution while ensuring alignment with enterprise governance and delivery standards.
• Establish and maintain effective communication plans, ensuring timely and appropriate updates to all stakeholders.
• Facilitate cross-team collaboration and coordination to manage dependencies and shared risks.
• Contribute to the development and adoption of Agile best practices, processes, and standards across the organization.
• Apply sound judgment to resolve complex delivery challenges requiring analysis of multiple factors.
• Mentor and support less-experienced Scrum Masters or team members as appropriate.
• Escalate risks, impediments, or delivery concerns to leadership when necessary.
• Ensure compliance with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Assist with additional initiatives and duties as assigned.
  
  
  

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Advanced Degree preferred.
• 5–8 years of related IT experience, including hands-on experience supporting Agile delivery teams.
• Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification required or strongly preferred.
• Proven knowledge of Agile frameworks, Scrum practices, and software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
• Experience working in an operational IT environment and within PMO or Agile Center of Excellence structures.
• Strong organizational and facilitation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to work creatively, analytically, and independently in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
• Ability to drive and sustain change in a dynamic environment.
• Strong business acumen; financial management experience is a plus.
• Healthcare or other regulated industry experience is a plus.
