Overview
As a Senior Cloud Engineer in our data platform engineering team, you’ll play a key role in designing, building, and operating the cloud foundation for our enterprise and customer data platforms primarily focusing on Azure
This is a hands-on engineering role: you will build application and platform infrastructure, automation, and internal tools that enable data engineers and product teams to develop and run data pipelines and data products reliably at scale. Data engineers build the data pipelines; you focus on the cloud platform, infrastructure, and developer experience they run on.
You will work primarily with Azure (and AWS as a secondary cloud) as a part of a team to create secure, observable, and well-automated environments enabling data & AI workloads, leveraging technologies like Databricks and modern CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code practices. This role focuses on building and owning platform services, libraries and tooling rather than day-to-day infrastructure operations or production support.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and own core platform services (APIs, internal tools, automation services) used by data engineers and product teams.
- Develop internal tools and APIs (services, CLIs, templates) that improve developer experience and enable self-service.
- Build maintainable, testable, and observable software systems using sound engineering principles.
- Automate platform provisioning and onboarding (workspaces, projects, environments) with secure-by-default patterns.
- Contribute to architecture decisions ensuring scalability, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Integrate identity and access patterns (RBAC, managed identities, service principals) into platform services.
- Build and evolve observability for platform services (metrics, logs, dashboards, alerts).
- Contribute to CI/CD and test automation for platform components and shared tooling.
- Use Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) to keep environments reproducible, consistent, and reviewable.
- Collaborate closely with data engineers, architecture, security, and product to meet non-functional requirements.

What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience as a cloud, platform, or backend engineer, building and operating production systems on Azure (AWS a plus).
- Strong software engineering skills: writing maintainable code and automation (e.g. Python or similar), with tests, code reviews, and version control.
- Experience designing or operating internal platforms, services, or developer tooling.
- Hands-on experience with modern data platforms, such as Databricks or similar.
- Solid understanding of cloud architecture and platform services for data and applications (compute, storage, messaging, secrets).
- Understanding of identity and access management in cloud environments (RBAC, managed identities, service principals).
- Practical experience with observability (metrics, logs, dashboards, alerts).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD (Terraform/Bicep, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to translate requirements across engineering, architecture, and security domains.
- A pragmatic engineering mindset, focused on reliability, automation, and simplicity.
- Understanding of data engineering concepts (batch/streaming, ETL/ELT, orchestration, data quality) and experience working closely with data engineers.
- Experience with multi-cloud environments, Azure + AWS.
- Familiarity with multi-tenant patterns (workspace or resource group isolation, catalog-per-tenant).
- Experience with Azure Policy, Key Vault, and network security controls.
- Experience with cost management and optimization for cloud and data platforms.
Our data platform engineering team builds and operates:
- the enterprise data platform for internal analytics and AI use cases, and
- the customer data platform for product-level data and AI capabilities.
We work in a multi-cloud setup and we are moving towards a unified target architecture and ways of working across both clouds, using common technologies such as Databricks.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to shape a modern data platform foundation used across the company.
- Work with a Azure and AWS stacks supporting both enterprise and customer-facing data products.
- Join a collaborative, engineering team with strong ownership of platform design and operations.
- A culture of automation, observability, and self-service enablement.
