Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support the data engineering and integration needs of Flutter’s global HR Transformation programme. In this role, you will contribute to designing, building, and maintaining scalable and efficient data pipelines and analytics solutions using AWS, Databricks, and Workato platforms. You will collaborate closely with Data and Solution Leads to ensure reliable, secure, and high-quality data integration across HR systems, including Workday. This role focuses on hands-on data development and optimization rather than architectural ownership.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Delivery:
- Design, develop, and maintain efficient data pipelines using AWS, Databricks, and Workato to support the HR Transformation programme.
- Contribute to the integration of HR systems (including Workday) by developing ETL/ELT pipelines for data migration, transformation, and analytics.
- Collaborate with Data, Integration, and Workday Tech Leads to ensure engineering solutions align with business requirements and data standards.
- Apply data governance, quality, and security best practices throughout development and deployment.
- Participate in testing and validation processes to ensure data accuracy and reliability across systems.
- Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing for data pipelines and platform usage.
- Support continuous improvement of data processes by suggesting and implementing enhancements for performance, quality, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with team members and share learnings to promote best practices within the squad
- Implement monitoring and alerting mechanisms to ensure data pipeline reliability.
- Support incident resolution and troubleshooting for data pipeline issues in coordination with the wider engineering and support teams.
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering roles with exposure to AWS cloud services and modern data stack technologies.
- Hands-on experience with AWS (S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift) and Databricks for data processing, transformation, and analytics.
- Knowledge of Workato or similar tools for integration and automation between systems such as Workday.
- Strong skills in SQL and Python (or Scala) for developing scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines.
- Understanding of HR systems and data structures (Workday experience preferred).
- Working knowledge of data governance, data quality, and security principles.
- Problem-solving skills with ability to debug and optimize data processes.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams.
- Experience working in Agile environments is preferred.
