Role Overview – Senior Data Engineer (6‑month contract)
As a Senior Data Engineer you will architect, build, and optimize modern data stacks on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for our client. Expect to lead design decisions, own pipeline reliability, and mentor teammates while working directly with product, analytics, and ML stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Architecture & Pipelines – Design and implement Airflow‑orchestrated ELT workflows in BigQuery, Spark, DBT, and Databricks.
- Quality & Testing – Embed automated data‑quality assertions, unit tests, CI/CD checks and pytest to ensure trustworthy analytics.
- Performance & Cost Tuning – Optimize Spark jobs, partitioning, and storage formats for speed and cloud‑cost efficiency at TB–PB scale.
- Collaboration – Translate business requirements into technical specs to deliver features faster.
- Documentation & Mentorship – Produce clear, reusable code and coach junior engineers on best practices.
What You Bring
- Experience: 10–12 years in data engineering with at least three major cloud data‑platform rollouts.
- Tech Stack Mastery: BigQuery, Airflow, Spark or PySpark, DBT, Databricks, SQL, and Python.
- Databases: Deep hands‑on with PostgreSQL/MySQL plus NoSQL stores like MongoDB or Cassandra.
- Data Governance: Proven record building automated testing and validation of the data pipelines to keep data reliable and audit‑ready.
- Soft Skills: Analytical mindset and strong written/verbal communication.
Nice‑to‑Have
- e‑commerce or high‑volume transactional data experience.
- Tableau, Looker, or similar data visualization tools for rapid insight delivery
- Google Professional Data Engineer or AWS Certified Data Analytics credentials (preferred for faster client onboarding).
- Familiarity with Machine Learning and Data Analytics.
Job Type: Contractual / Temporary
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: ₹130,000.00 - ₹150,000.00 per month
