Introduction to team

Our Corporate Functions are made up of teams that support Expedia Group, including Employee Communications, Finance, Traveler and Partner Service Platform, Legal, People Team, Inclusion and Diversity, and Global Social Impact and Sustainability.

Global Financial Technology team is a strategic partner for all finance functions, and a service delivery organisation that ensures finance initiatives/dependencies are completed on time and within budget. As a part of this team you will get to work on engineering financial data that forms backbone of core accounting and reporting of Expedia Group's Finances.

In This Role, You Will

• 8+ years of Expedience in below technologies:
• Proficient with following technologies Java, Scala, Python, AWS Cloud Services, GraphQL, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Apache Iceberg, Splunk, Datadog, NoSQL and SQL databases, Airflow, Hive,Oracle
• Proficient in writing high-performing SQL for massive data movement.
• Experience and exposure to ML / AI technologies is a plus
• Preferred: Experience and exposure to financial domain
• Proven leadership in executing vaguely defined, complex projects
  
  

Experience And Qualifications

• Lead and actively participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including the design, analysis, development, and deployment efforts for multiple enterprise applications projects to tackle sophisticated business problems.
• Deconstruct large, sophisticated problems into manageable and achievable breakthroughs driving streamlined execution by the team
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to peers and more junior engineers, helping them overcome obstacles and have growth opportunities
• Takes a whole systems approach to analyze issues and implements holistic solutions by ensuring that linkages between structure, people, process and technology are made.
• Possesses knowledge of features and facilities for integration, and communication among applications, databases and technology platforms to bring together different components and form a fully functional solution to a business problem.
• Tests and maintains software applications and related programs and procedures by using a variety of software development tools following design requirements of customer.
• Researches and recommends frameworks and architectural/code design patterns.
• Identifies areas of improvements within the code and suggests solutions.
• Advocates for operational excellence (such as unit testing, establishing SLAs, programming for resiliency and scalability).
• Advises on technical limitations of software design for products and provides alternative solutions.
• Facilitates collaboration with different stakeholders with varied perspectives to develop effective solutions to issues.
• Collaborate with EG leaders with vision to architect and build robust applications and thoughtfully choose relevant technologies to evolve EG travel platform
• Maintain, monitor and improve our solutions and systems with a focus on service excellence; apply industry standards and innovative technologies to improve efficiency, quality, and system performance
• Extends outside of direct organization and collaborate with peers across a senior level organization.
• Partners with the business to have a clear understanding of how own technology stack is tied to business outcomes and our bottom line.
• Conducts successfully day-to-day work and solves complex issues in own specific technical engineering area.
• Intuitive to learn and drive from data driven development. Exposure to FinTech will be a plus point.
• Serves as a guide to others by sharing and helping junior associates in their duties.
• Reports on status of difficult or high-level projects to local tech leadership via written or oral means. Ensures documentation is complete.
