Summary:
We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with deep technical expertise and strong leadership skills to independently drive automation, efficiency, and governance within our DevOps and Toolchain squad. This pivotal role supports SREs and development teams in building scalable, secure, and optimised CI/CD pipelines. The ideal candidate excels in toolchain standardisation, infrastructure improvements, and reducing manual operations, while also mentoring teams and promoting DevOps best practices across the engineering organisation.
What You Will Do: - Optimise CI/CD Pipelines and Toolchain Integration
Within the first 3 months, evaluate and streamline the CI/CD workflows across multiple product teams using tools such as GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Harness, and Azure DevOps. Standardise key automation practices and reduce manual interventions in deployments by at least 30%.
- Lead Toolchain Governance and Access Control
Take ownership of DevOps governance by implementing and managing RBAC, ensuring consistent access control policies across repositories, pipelines, and environments. Establish baseline governance metrics within the first 90 days.
- Accelerate DevOps Automation & Efficiency
Automate infrastructure deployment and software delivery using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi). Deliver at least two self-service deployment templates for internal teams within the first 6 months.
- Mentor and Uplift Engineering Capability
Within the first 60 days, identify capability gaps across engineering teams and develop a training roadmap. Lead at least one DevOps best practices workshop or hands-on session per quarter. Drive adoption of DevOps principles through coaching and peer mentoring.
- Enhance Cloud Infrastructure and Security Posture
Redesign critical infrastructure components in AWS/Azure/GCP to optimise cost, security, and performance. Within the first 6 months, lead a cross-functional initiative to introduce secret management (Vault) and security scanning as part of the deployment lifecycle.
- Improve Monitoring, Logging, and Reliability Engineering
Design and implement end-to-end observability using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and Datadog. Lead the development of a production incident response process and ensure mean-time-to-recovery (MTTR) improves by at least 20% over the first 9 months.
- Drive Containerisation and Kubernetes Strategy
Within the first 6 months, lead the migration or optimisation of applications to Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, OpenShift). Define best practices for container orchestration, automated scaling, and CI/CD integration for containerised apps.
What You Will Have: Must Have Skill
- 6–9 years of experience in DevOps, Infrastructure, or SRE roles.
- Proficiency in CI/CD platforms: GitLab, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Harness.
- Strong IaC experience: Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, CDK.
- Expert in cloud infrastructure: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Hands-on with configuration tools: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, SaltStack.
- Deep experience in Docker and Kubernetes (EKS/AKS/OpenShift).
- Knowledge of RBAC, Vault, and infrastructure security.
- Scripting: Bash, PowerShell, Node.js, Python, Java, or .NET.
- Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK stack.
