Senior PHP Developer

About the opportunity

We are looking for a Full Stack PHP Developer who can build highly scalable software solutions and SaaS applications. You will be part of a cross-functional team that is responsible for the complete software development life cycle. As a Full Stack Developer, you should be comfortable working with both front-end and back-end programming languages, as well as third-party libraries and frameworks. An applicant must be self-driven, innovative, have a keen eye for detail, and be able to come up with creative visual and utility solutions.

You will be responsible for

Common responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Building reliable, high-performance, and state-of-the-art web applications that handle large volumes of data.
• Responsible for managing feature(s) development, ensuring your work meets agreed-upon quality standards.
• Coordinate with the Product team to specify the technical aspects of a feature from inception through delivery.
• Manage both the backend (based on core PHP and/or modern PHP frameworks such as Laravel, and CodeIgniter) and front end (ReactJs, vanilla JS, jQuery, Ajax) of our projects.
• Maintain the highest level of coding standards and deliver high-quality, scalable, and optimized software from start to finish.
• Create test cases for each piece of code you develop.
• Audit your code, perform unit and integration tests, review your code, and check for continuous integration regularly.
• Improve existing codebases continuously, identifying key opportunities for refactoring and performance improvements.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation for projects, including inline code comments, Git repo readme files, and clear commit messages.
• Share your knowledge, provide feedback, and perform architectural reviews, code reviews, and peer reviews for other developers.
• Be responsible for your project’s engineering success.
• Keep track of deadlines, communicate progress proactively with the team, and support your colleagues.

You will be a great fit if

We are looking for the following abilities, skillsets, and experience:

• 5+ years of professional experience in full stack software development.
• Advanced knowledge and experience with backend technologies (PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).
• Experience with front-end technologies (ReactJs / VueJs / TypeScript, vanilla JS, ES6, HTML, CSS, JSON, jQuery, Ajax, etc.).
• Experience with SaaS application development, its architecture, and coding standards.
• Must be familiar with PHP object-oriented programming, including unit tests, integration tests, and other automatic end-to-end code testing protocols.
• An excellent understanding of OOP, autoloading, namespacing, traits, interfaces, and design patterns.
• Working knowledge of both relational and non-relational databases.
• Knowledge of CSS preprocessors like SASS and JavaScript to extend interfaces.
• Design and build public APIs with an emphasis on clarity and developer experience.
• Experience with build tools such as WebPack, babel, and gulp, as well as package managers such as Composer and NPM.
• Experience with microservice architectures and various REST APIs.
• Experience with third-party API integration (e.g. Stripe, Drip, Zapier, etc.) as well as CMS (WordPress, Shopify, etc.).
• Expertise in using git-based source control systems, e.g. Git, BitBucket, AWS CodeCommit, GitHub, etc.
• The ability to work with AWS EC2, Lambdas, Docker, DO Droplets, and other cloud services.
• Ability to audit application security and performance.
• Experience implementing security measures for web applications.
• An understanding of how to debug a wide range of browsers and devices.
• Knowledge of design and prototyping tools and familiarity with development tools.
• Personal Computer with internet access.
• When working remotely, you should be available to participate in audio/video meetings at any time.
